I note that the Rego is up in December and that the seller says it needs a service. Tried to find out a bit about the cost of rego but can't get anything conrete. Is there anything in particular I should be wary of? I know I'll need a pink slip and a green slip but is there any way of gauging what this will set me back?

If I do go to see the car, I intend on getting it checked out by a mechanic before buying and with that in mind can anyone recommend a decent mechanic in Balmain/around the the Sydney CBD?

12 months rego is around $280 from memory. 6 months is... half the price.

12 months CTP (Compulsory Third Party) is around $500, 6 months is half price.

Pink slip is about $25

I can recommend a mechanic in Balmain not to go to. Claims to be a european car specialist. PM me if you want the details.

Don't forget your stamp duty, $200. Also your insurance, whilst not legally required you'd be a fool not to get 3rd party property cover.
