Renewing British passport?

Guys...I need to renew my British passport. How does one go about it from Australia? Do they automatically put a visa sticker in there or do I have to do something else with that?

I had to do it a couple of months ago - if anything it was less hassle than doing it in the UK.

I downloaded the forms from t'internet, filled them out, booked an appointment at my local post office (the auspost website lists which ones do UK passports, and you can book online), they check and verify the forms there and then, it all gets sent off and about 3 weeks later your passport turns up - remarkably hassle free considering how challenging most everything else involving buearocracy is over here...

Edited to add that the visa stuff is all online now, so you don't (at least in NSW) need it evidenced in your passport, but you do need to advise of your new passport number - I had to do it in a rush as I was going overseas so went and did it in person, but you can do it via forms/post as well.

Used to be the case, but they changed it relatively recently so I understand . I did it through the post office and it worked just fine.

Renewed my daughters passport via post office. It gets sent to new Zealand for processing. All really easy. But it's not cheap!
On visa, you get the new one restamped so to speak or take your old passport with you on holiday, as although they electronic, Passport control still like to see it
