Living in Melbourne
Discussion
I am currently seeking a new position down under.
I am currently looking to see what the rental market is, and also some nice places for me and my family to live. So far i am looking to the Eastern Side of Melborne in particular Kew.
I am looking for a 3/4 bed house, nears to Junior Schools and near public trnasport so i can get to work easily.
The office will be near the central station so i am looking for the journey to be no more than 30 minutes.
Thanks
Steve

Kew is a lovely area, rental prices can be high in Melbourne in certain areas as is the competition to secure a property, although given the size of the property you are after it may be slightly easier. A lot of rental properties have multiple offers and it is common for people to offer more than the asking rent to secure a property. I suggest that you team up with a real estate agent/letting agent who will be able to find the suitable property if you are still overseas.
Using public transport may be an necessary evil, however depending on your work, many people I know (including myself) park in the city as it is not incredibly expensive. I pay $13 a day to park in the CBD, but walk 2 city blocks to my office on Collins Street. I've never taken public transport to commute in Melbourne, it is as reliable as the tube is, but just not as efficient.
Stay East; Kew, Hawthorn, Glen Iris are all nice leafy areas and you cant go wrong in my opinion.

Thanks for that.. Its hard just going by what you read on property sites. I have got to the final 2 candidates and the final 3rd round of interviews next week. so have everything crossed.
But just been contacted to work in Abu Dhabi (Tax Free). So i am now getting more and more options.
