Just thinking about going to the GP in March - not sure if it is worth spending the extra cash for a race day grandstand seat or just doing the general admission? Does anyone know what the best viewing areas are?

I went two years ago, and got a four day pit straight grandstand ticket.

The only problem was the grandstand faces north...into the sun....and it was something ridiculous like 40 degrees on race day. So I actually ended up watching the race on a big screen behind the grandstand because I could sit in the shade.

I'm going to go on the Friday this year, and think I'll get a one day grandstand ticket because from memory there are bits general admission people can't access.

yeah its not bad, i stopped going cause i worked nights and it was too hard to back up at track in the morning. that said when it first started in melbourne it was better run in terms of PT to the track ect. Its a good week in town tho, go to the motor show early in the week then the gp on the weekend

Being a street circuit the viewing from general admission points are pretty ordinary. If you can spring some money for a stand then i suggest you do. Around th eback of the track in the chicanes is about the best place when you factor in dollars. Around turns 3,4 or 6,7

I was there last year, and I’d say yes definitely worth going.
I just went for general admission. Skinflint me, pay for flights to Oz, but can’t pay the couple hundred extra bucks for a seat.

For race day, I got there quite early and found myself a spot on Brocky’s hill (Turn 11). Not a bad view and a big screen across the track to keep you up to date with everything else. Was nice and close to the bars and such as well.

I am going for the full four days and a few extra either side if anyone wants to hook up for a meet/beer/curry etc. I am hoping to get a granstand ticket and prey it is not a blinding hot day.
