Guys I really need help!

But that's another story :P

What I need right now is to find out what's the best way to watch the upcoming F1 season on my TV over here in Sydney.

Is it free to air or do I need Foxtel?

The same goes for the Six Nations rugby and the Moto GP - They're the only things I ever watch!

Cheers, this is life or death for me biggrin

Rugby might be on free to air.

Moto GP is on Foxtel but could be on ONE HD. F1 is normally on live on ONE HD and has a repeat showing.

Aus TV is pretty dire so you will probably end up buying Foxtel anyway biggrin

Here in Sydney it is live on One HD ( Ch10's 2nd channel ) and delayed and hour at least on 10 HD.

Wasn't there a bill trying to be passed that made all this free sport coverage not free anymore? While the TV is not brilliant here, it is totally free so that has to be applauded somewhat smile

Six Nations, you will need pay TV, Foxtel or Setanta or whatever it is called this week. I actually don't think it is on Foxtel either but I haven't seen it for ages.
One has all the F1 and motogp live....sadly you have to pay for my favourite, the World superbikes ie Foxtel.
The EPL is good on Foxtel too.
I actually like listening to ABC News Radio overnight on Saturday and Sunday night as it pipes in the BBC world service and its Sportsworld program. Perth used to be even better as Curtin Radio???? used to put the football on from Five live on saturday night.

I think Foxtel has a Setanta channel. There is Eurosport News and they just launched the full Eurosport channel so I'm hoping it is the same as the UK one and will have decent Le Man coverage this year!

Worth mentioning that Ten/One HD use the BBC coverage but with Australian "experts" bookending the show and ad breaks.

This year was amusing as they tried to turn " The Jenson Button Show" in to "The Mark Webber Show".

I tend to not watch the Australian version, as the pre and after show is not that good. I wait and download the full BBC coverage. Which I find a lot more entertaining.

However, as said above, the commentary in Australia, is the BBC feed, so Brundle's there. Unfortunatly, they keep cutting to breaks, and it can take ages before the Ozzy comentary team pass back over to Brundle.

Used that for some of the Lions games but it was just about unwatchable quality.

You don't get a problem with iPlayer not letting you download it because you are outside the UK? I don't seem to be able to download anything from iPlayer over in Sydney.

I don't use iplayer from the BBC, as the IP address has to be within the uk, so in Oz there's no way (to my tiny computer knowledge anyway).

I download a torrent from www.thebox.bz, then download it from Vuze Bittorent. It's usually on a couple of hours after the race, but at least you get all the intro stuff, martins grid walk etc. This year, fo each race was all practice, qualy and race, plus red button coverage after the race.

The only downside is you can't look, listern or read any news..........

Quality is excellent.

I use a VPN http://www.consult-here.com/vpn.html so the BBC website thinks I'm in the UK, then I access either the BBC website to watch the races streamed live or iplayer soon after.

I absolutely can't stand the donuts on 1HD/10 and prefer to watch the far superior BBC prelims and race coverage.

I do the same to get BBC Moto GP coverage.

Cheers,

MW.

looks good, I take it you sign up for the fee stated and they redirect you through a UK server?

Does it work? Can you download content from iPlayer? Are there any downsides?

Yes I signed up and it has been fine. No problems with payment, I've been using it for a year now.

Yes they redirect you through a UK server, so you can download iplayer content - I am watching it now.

Sometimes (depending your home connection speed) you might find you can't quite stream live shows - this is rare though. If you get more than 3mb at home, you will be fine.

AM, this is brilliant! I've shared this site with my Brother in QLD and a mate in Sydney (who emmigrated 2 years back) they say it works well.
We're heading back in Jan 2011 and not having BBC's coverage was certainly a negative (along with draconian speed laws and cockroaches in the kitchen) but you've solved that problem now.
Cheers,
Rob

Totally agree, watched the victory over the leeks last week and eagerly anticipating the Italians tomorrow! Beats Bigpond, where I have to pay to watch most of it's online content!

Before this I was getting a bit fed up with the poor/non existent TV reception available where I live.
