Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum but have had a look through lots of the posts. I'm moving to Melbourne towards the end of next year and from reading all the posts I can't wait! Actually the ones about Melbourne driving are a little daunting!!

With the exchange rate a bit rubbish at the moment I thought it might be a good idea to buy a 2000 Cerbera here and ship it to Melbourne when I come over, not only will I be able to enjoy the car here for a year but then again for a while in Melbourne! The idea is then to sell it but this isn't about the profit rather getting a good exchange rate.

My wife is Australian so I will get a visa through her to stay permanently.

Anyway sorry for the waffle so cutting to the chase, what would a decent 2000 Cerbera V8 sell for in Australia at the moment? Would a 1999 Prosche 911 C4 be a better bet?

Thanks in advance, I appreciate it!

www.carsales.com.au,www.drive.com.au,www.carsguide.com.au and the autotrader are the best places to to try and gauge what the market is doing.

I'm pretty sure the TVR's that are for sale at the moment have been for sale for a long long time, personally I chuckle when I see them being advertised for $100,000 and I am fairly certain anyone looking to buy one would be all to aware of their UK value.

Thanks for that! Was fairly sure those ads on carsguide might have been a little on the high side!

I need to make a decision fairly soon as I know I need to own it for a year before import by which time the exchange rate might have come back anyway...hmmm...

Thanks again, really appreciate it.

I was intending on bringing my cerbie back home to Australia and was looking at costing all up,including purchase, around $40 000 but at the last minute decided to sell it for practical reasons as i had a 356 speedster back in oz already and thought i could not justify having both.
I regret not bringing it over and looking at the current market ,albeit the long time these cars have been for sale, i would have to pay close to double to have one again.
For the money the cerbs are for sale here you could get yourself a decent 911 and a daily driver and even a boat.
I am not missing the maintenance costs though as the speedster costs around a hundred bucks a year in the last two years and the cerbera in two years cost $15 000.
