Highe Mileage Sales Question
Discussion
I'm bringing the Noble out next august and it will probably have by then about 45k miles on the clock.
Now thats not huge mileage but some people might be put off by it.
I will probably be selling it as I don't think I will get the pay out there to keep the car and may sell and buy an Elise and get a SC honda in it.
I will probably be looking for around 90K Aus.
Do you think the Mileage will be an issue?
Cheers

Hard to say....its such a niche car and will be the only one available when its here so its not like a prospective buyer will have any choice. I also think that anyone seeking to buy a Noble would also be of an 'enthusiasts mind' so would probably know abit about the cars and would know to buy on condition rather than mileage.
You might get lucky but niche cars tend not to sell very quickly here, maybe even for 12 months or so!

Sounds like you need to make some decisions quick smart...
If you buy an Elise SC over here it'll cost you way over $100K, If I was you I would sell up in the UK now, Purchase a New Elise SC and then import it when your year of "continuous use" is up.
There's some TVR's over here for some serious money and they arent selling very quickly, possibly becuase the potential buyers are all ex-pat and they are aware of UK Prices, same applies to the Lotus 2-11 thats for sale over here at the moment, My opinion is the expensive track toys arent selling too quickly due to lack of understanding or desirability in the Aussie market.
The alternative, if you are coming over with a partner, get her to buy the Elise SC and bring them both over in the one container, then when you get here, sell the Noble to Bob the planner for UK price plus shipping - everyone's happy.
If your sensible you'll do well end end up with a decent car, if you over price then it'll be sat over here and wont sell, check out how many used cars there are for sale, then look at the price of new cars (everyone is doing a deal)!

When I say SC elise I mean a mk1 of late mk2 and get the Honda engine with sc added. They are not worth 100k so I'm led to belive, I could get an S1 for 30k and spend 15k on the upgrade. That's a guess without going back over the details I have researched in the past. Basically I woul live to keep the Noble. I know every inch of the car but would love to do track days in it but you need to have the money behind you for that as they need quite a bit of love and attention if you want to track them regulary.
I own it out right so would be willing to wait for and support the next owner.

Supply and demand, there are some rich people in Aus but at any one time there would only be a handfull of people perhaps in the entire country looking for such a niche car.I agree with the point that anyone looking for these type of cars are also going to have done some serious research so will have come across the value in the UK. To be brutally honest I look at some of the people selling these cars and have to scoff at the pricing a bit. I can understand wanting to recover the cost of getting something here but some peoples pricing does take the piss. There is a V6 Clio that has been for sale for something like 18 months at $100K. Rare and desireable...Yes...worth $100K? Hell no!! The same goes for $80K Griffiths.

You have probably found it already but there is an Aus Elise owners forum, I remember having a mooch around it a while back and there were a few threads about Honda conversions.I own it out right so would be willing to wait for and support the next owner.

For a personal import you need to have owned and used the car for a year before export to Aus.
Look at prices of what you want in Aus and then work out if its worth bringing the Noble over and keeping it.
I would bring it over, however my relocation package paid from the shipping/insurance on the Tuscan. I don't reckon you would have too much trouble finding someone to care for it over here. I use the local Jag garage.

Yeah, I know all the rules and there is a Noble in Oz already and It will cost about 4-6k to get it out.
I would be looking for that back and some more. I was going to come last year and got an email fir a guy who had found a buyer. I'm going to Sydney so hope I have a better chance of selling it there. However if I get the right job then I'm keeping it as I have put a lot of money into this car and there is still lots I want to do.
The guys on Aussieelises tell me to bring it.
