Just a reminder for the WA crowd, monday is public holiday so as of midnight last night we are now on double demerits.

As a side comment, I felt like pulling over and abusing a highway officer last night.

On the way home from work on Kwinana Fwy, traffic was heavy but flowing well. Shortly before the new Safety Bay road exit traffic suddenly slowed almost to a halt and then picked up again to 100KMH, the cause? Police car hidden in the bushes in the central reservation and an officer kneeling down IN THE EMERGENCY LANE right on the white line with his laser gun!!!!! People were spotting him at the last minute and literally dropping anchors and slamming the brakes on down to the 70KMH mark catching some people further back unaware, I saw someone have a brown trouser lane change moment avoiding one of these brake slammers.

All in the name of safety right cos if your not speeding its safe innit?

Truly I have never seen anything as stupid as sitting on the floor in an emergency stopping lane next to a freeway and I just could not believe that the very people that are supposed to be ensuring our safety on the roads seemed to be completely oblivious to the chaos their very presence was causing! For people to go through there at 110KMH as they normally do is so so so much safer than what was going on last night. What was he planning on doing if he did happen to catch someone speeding...leap out in to the driving lane and force them to stop?!?!

They used to do that in NSW – banned after a HWP officer was killed whilst doing it. Car hit the brakes, car behind hit it, sending it spinning into the cop.

Could see it happening, just a matter of time. Very dangerous and pointless practice.

You know I wish I had stopped and called the police to tell them someone had broken down and was standing on the central reservation causing a nuisance hehe

I was pinged on bank holiday Monday just south of Karratha and was given 6 demerit points and a $300 fine.
I can handle the fine but 6 demerit points is a bit steep for doing 125kph (admittedly, I was towing a caravan at the time but even though.........that's half of my allowance used up in one go.)

Do I need to inform my insurance company now or just leave it until renewal time? These are the first points I've ever had.

When I insured the new ute I was told that fines for speeding are no longer taken into account it was only reckless, careless and drink driving that they wanted to know about

It's 100kph out in the country.
I actually thought it was 110kph until I was pulled and the police officer told me otherwise. I thought I was only 15kph over the limit!!
Live and learn hey!

What a cretinous c-nut.

Seriously anyone that believes that this sort of behaviour improves road safety should be commited.

Unfortunately most of Australia does, gullible fkw*ts that we are.
