The exchange rate to move money back to sterling is crazily cheap at the moment. It was $2.55 when i bought money over in 2007....

I buy my shirts from Harvie and Hudson. I paid around $85 a shirt last time I ordered from them. This time it was around $65 including postage.

Works for me.

So much for the british peso.

I wonder if there'll be a defining moment when the aussie market realises that the money it's getting for raw materials is going right back to china when paying for cheap goods?!?

Not so good for me though!

Will be moving to Oz later this year and the exchange at the moment is $1.65 to the pound. Last year it was $2.30 which is a huge difference. Will be renting until the pound picks up.

Me three. The rate's been getting worse as the months go by, and with Nick Clegg performing so well (relatively speaking of course) on the TV Election debate, the pound is falling on the fears of a hung parliament.
Should have moved over years ago.
Plan on renting for a while too. Anyway, at this rate I'll be stuck at the airport as I'm supposed to be flying out there on Tuesday 27th!

Not sure but certainly hope so and hope it's not too far off. However I think it will be at least a year or two!

Theres a genuine sense within the industry that the aussie $ is overpriced. It also looks like great value against the pound due to the recent news surrounding the potential for a hung UK parliament and therefore the inability of the UK govt to sort itself out.

Therefore if the parliament in the UK isnt hung, the chinese revalue their currency, the US $ strengthens (which i think it will) expect the aussie $ to worsen and take it nearer the 2gbp to the $1 mark by year end.

Just my thoughts and happy to be wrong.

Where to? Melbourne Victoria!
It's been a mad rush though. I'm still trying to sell my car as well which isn't helping me sleep.
It's a beautiful part of the world though as I'm sure you agree.

Excellent. Just in time to see Winter leave the country hopefully.
I'd love to take the car with me but i've not owned it for 12 months. It's been about 10.5 and i can't delay the journey by 6 weeks.
Well done on missing the winter there, although I'm told it's quite mild.
How long have you been waiting for this and are you taking your car?

My wife is Australian and we've talked about it for the last 3 years. Just going to send the application off next week for my spouse Visa so will hopefully not get too many delays. Hoping to spend a month in Vietnam on the way too. Will be taking the 993.

Shame you can't delay your departure for 6 weeks.

Safe trip. May even meet in Melbourne!

When my partner went to the UK 7.5 years back £1 got you AU$3!

When I moved out 5.5 years back it was around the £1 to AU$2.50 but only very briefly. I experienced a few months of sub $1 petrol and the like but it very quickly began to climb the slope to boomtown.
