Hi Guys,

Myself and the Mrs are getting pretty fed up with the UK and the fact that my job becomes 'unsafe' almost on a bi-monthly basis!

So, we're considering moving overseas, to Oz.

Therefore i need to get my CV to Oz construction firms and need some names so that i can look a bit further that the usual ones that a google search finds.

At present, i have:

LendLease
Brookfield Multiplex
Clough
Griscon

Any other searches just reveal the likes of Bruces Building Company etc that do extensions and driveways and i'm looking for the bigger names.

Anybody out there help at all?

Colonial may well be able to point you in the right direction on this one. I could reel off a string of names and contact details but can't comment on the integrity or for that matter anything about them.

Lendlease – and has a number of varying arms depending on what you want.

But also Muliplex as you have identified, but also consider some of the following
Leightons
ABI Group
Hansen Yunken
Reeds
Crookes
Which are the major ones. Plenty of smaller companies around like
Stirloch,
Stevens,
Norths,
Pluims etc etc from the top of my head.

What area are you looking at moving to?

In addition to Colonial's list, you could add State & Federal Gov bodies, such as NSW RTA, TIDC, ARTC, NSW Housing and others. Not all of them are the career-limiting options they might first seem, though many of these do use the major engineering consultancies and contractors to do their work.

Couple of others just sprang to mind...

What Visa are you migrating on?

If its a 457 employer sponsored think again as they are being culled significantly at the moment.

Agree 100% here. They have really cut back on all kinds of visa's right now to try to keep the jobs for the Australians in these tough times.
