I agree that any circuit is better than no circuit but whats the point in just settling for 'a circuit' when it could be something so much more amazing for Perth to have.

In my opinion its just to far away for what it is...to me its like an AHG facility which is good fun but no way would I drive a few hours in to the middle of nowhere for it.

With my spectator hat on I rarely go out to Barbagello. I am going to make a guess that most spectators are casual motorsport fans or have never been before but are at a loose end so just give it a try...I seriously doubt these people are going to drive several hours cross country for a bit of clubby racing. How is the circuit going to make money without something that will really make people want to drive out there?

Its going to be hot as hell in the summer, this will put spectators off and as mentioned in the other thread is not good for your average, unfit club level enthusiast.

The Perth > Bunbury freeway is about to open, take the circuit south to the cooler / wetter climate and put it next to the freeway. Sure its a dull drive but its an efficient way of getting to your destinationa and it would provide a good way in and out of the facility which Barbagello is seriously lacking, this is also something that the major race series moan about when it comes to running at Barbagello.

Go bigger and go better...simple as that really. Really be ambitious with this thing and build a proper facility that people will come from all over Australia to use. If not dont bother, give the money to Barbagello for a major renovation.

If the government is going to be funding it then it really should not be a small track out in the middle of the bush!

Really though I can't see the government even entertaining the idea of supporting the weekend sprint / trackday driver having a play. There is no money for the state to be made in that so its got to be a big facility nearer a freeway and decent sized town that can be sold as a tourist attraction.

Is there even a petrol station there with a ready supply of 98RON for the trackdayers? I saw lots of talk about the town building a large motel but is that sustainable during the quiet parts of the season?

There was the guy who was behind the bunbury track a few years back.

He apparently had formula nippon and the jtcc contracts signed to come to the track when he got the private backing to build it.

He has since disapered and I am guessing but so has alot of peoples money

That thing has been going on and off for years and years.

The people of Bunbury, Bunbury council and the state gummymint were all well behind that thing and actually wanted it in their town but there was just a stream of excuses for not starting it. Plant machines arrived but never moved and then vanished again and then someone supposedly found a rare orchid on the site so it all went very quiet. I dont believe there was ever a rare orchid!

It also came out after the last flare up of activity that Formula Nippon and JGTC had never heard of the track and had not been contacted to race there. Neither CAMS or AASA had any applications for inspections and approvals.
