Warrens Ultra Fast Karts - Wanneroo
Discussion
Got a last minute invite to a friends gettogether on saturday to have a go on the Ultra Fast Karts at Wanneroo.
Well i was pleasantly surprised. $150 is a lot for karts, but after a 10min warm up and 3 5 lap races i did actually feel like it was worth it.
The Karts arent the latest thing, bit sluggish to get going but about 110kmh maxed out. Quick but wish they were a bit quicker.
I figured you can go flat out apart from one corner so was always going as fast as i dared.
There was 20 in our group and another group of 5 tagged on, so would figure if we all went to have a go we wouldnt need to fill the venue.
Overall great fun, would do it again and enjoyed it.
Came 3rd out of 20 with a fastest lap of 1.12. There was a guy there in Kart no.7 who was flying put in a 1.10, but we reckon his Kart was suspiciously fast
Must admit, Warren this big guy is a grumpy bugger though.

I've always wondered what that track would be like for karts.
I sometimes take my son to the track next door where you can turn up and jump into a kart without booking (Wanneroo kart hire I think it's called). Their track looks a lot better than Wanneroo raceway as it's got a lot of bends that need brakes and is purpose built for karts. The downside being that the everyday karts for hire are the worst I've ever been in. Their twin engined ones look ok but you need to book in a party for them (not sure of the cost).
Does anyone know of any indoor tracks around Perth?

I think the cost of the ultra fast karts depends on the type of event you do. Looks like pommygranite did a GP event. http://www.ultrafastkarts.com.au/current-prices.ht...
I think if there is just a handfull of people they tack you on to another group or you can just pay for a 15 minute run and burn around.
Della...there are a couple of indoor tracks in Perth. There is one in Belmont. Its okay for a laugh I suppose but they dont let you out in anything remotely quick (no brakes needed at all) until you have been half a dozen times, you get a license thing that they stamp each time you go. http://www.kartworldbelmont.com.au/index.html
There is also this place in O Connor that has regular karts as well as slide karts. I have been slide karting before (in the US of A) and it is brilliant fun. http://www.indoorkart.com.au/
So when are we going?

Definitely up for karting whenever. Anytime except Saturday mornings is good for me.
Slide karts sound like a bit of a laugh.
I've been karting all over (Nottingham, Teesside Autodrome, Durham, Newcastle, Majorca, Cyprus, Dubai, Australia etc etc) and I still say that the 'arrive and drive' karts at Wanneroo kart hire are the worst I've ever been in!!
As for the AHG day, the Silvia is going up for sale in a couple of weeks so depends when I get the new motor (probably a phase 2 Skyline R33 GTS-T but maybe a tuned Silvia turbo). Once I have it, I'll be looking for an excuse to put it on the track for sure

Weekend of August 15th? Saturday arvo....
Barbagello which as above is $150 for 10 mins practise and then 3 X 5 lap races>>> http://www.ultrafastkarts.com.au/current-prices.ht...
Wanneroo Kart Hire has a couple of options for running in the proper twin engined karts...
Sprint race which looks to be good value: http://www.wannerookarthire.com.au/dash_for_cash.p... This only needs a minimum of 4 karts but is only on weekdays and weekday eveings.
Enduro if we can find 12 drivers: http://www.wannerookarthire.com.au/endurance_racin...

Its worth persisting with Belmont. The first couple of outings will be st but once you get a Super licence ( I think) then they it gets quite fun. The thing is, if you dont go for 6months or over, you lose it and have to start again. Bastids.
Perth isnt great for hire karts. Youre best off buying a proper one I reckon.

I had the twin licence at Belmont years ago but would prolly have to start again now.
Have thought previously about getting a group of mates together to buy a couple of old race karts just for fun, might be worth considering if we all enjoy it enough?
O/T Pete you got any plans to revisit Perth anytime?

15th August is good for us, would probably put S' 14 yo son down for a go too, and possibly my 17 YO daughter who keeps wanting to borrow the Monaro... I let her use it one day last week while I was checking out her car, I noticed the fuel consumption figure on the dash had jumped a bit when I got in it next

Not sure if there is a scene / race series for gearbox karts in WA though? Wonder if they would be allowed to run on Jacks Hillclimb or on the Summer speed series / regularities that WASCC run
