Im looking at going to Aus on a working Holiday visa as at the moment i have to wait 1 year 9 months until i have completed 6 years of IT work in the UK before i can apply for the 175 visa to Aus.

I have always been a perm employer, whats the contract market in Brisbane and Sydney for IT desktop work?

Any one fancy giving me a job smile

Is there much of a chance getting a job and bing sponsored to stay?

Thanks
Nick

I guess one problem at the moment is that you'll be competing with quite a few well qualified Australians who are returning from the stale British employment market (err, like me wink). While the job market doesn't seem particularly flat at the moment (I guess you can easily check out your particualr area in some of the main employment websites like seek.com.au or careerone.com.au), it does seem there is a lot of choice in regards to applicants available and employers can now be fairly choosey about who they want.

As a Working Holiday Visa limits you to working for 6 months with an employer, it will limit who will want to take you on for skilled work. And as said, you will be competing with other skilled locals, which will put them ahead of you.

Be ready that you may have to pull beers in a pub, which probably would be more fun, although for a lot less money.

Be ready to get a licence for that beer pulling, seriously smile Think its an RSA you need, and possibly a gaming licence too if the bar has Pokies. Prob need a licence to wipe your ass, and one to flush too smile

In Perth i have found them pretty keen to employ temps for less demanding roles, or they were a year ago. Not bad wages for menial work, circa 20 bucks an hour, 25 for a trade assistant.

You will prob find work in rural areas easier, something alot of people do for the second year working visa.
