So I went on an AHG Tuning Arvo yesterday....Epic fun!!!

It was only $60 and the event lasted for about 2.5 hours. I got something like 12-15 laps of the full circuit and they also opened one of the skid pans that had a course marked with cones and I think I got about the same amount of time on that...2 circuits for the price of one!

There is a maximum of 14 drivers with a single car on track at a time. The first time out you do a single lap of the full circuit and after that you do 2 laps at a time.

I just lined up for the main track, did my 2 laps and then lined up for the skid pan and then when I came off there it was about time to line up for the main track again. You are meant to stay in the same order all afternoon but it pretty quickly broke down as people missed a go or just ran the skid pan instead of the circuit.

My car ran brilliantly. I had fitted a set of trackday pads but I think that as long as your pads are in good condition you could run with stock OEM pads. My tyres are showing some light feathering but that would be more to do with my hamfisted inexperience than anything else hehe
I guess what I am geting at is that its low impact on the car and with just a single car on track at a time there is no pressure or worry of holding someone up.

Dev what time you at AHG? Is it Friday? Might see if I have time to drop by, I'll be 5 minutes away.
Sorry James I forgot about this... hope you had fun? driving
Just off into town to meet S for drinks drink
Sorry I didnt see this...could have done with some pointers on my driving! I had a heap of fun but probably only really learnt how to smear my tyres across the road hehe

Okay guys I know its been a long read but I hope I have sold it to you.....AHG allow you to make private bookings and I'm sure we must be able to get 14 drivers together!!!!

I'm happy to do the work to make this happen and get it booked.

I'd be up for a bit of that for sure.
Do you have to wear a helmet there? If so, would a motorbike one do?

Yes and Yes. You dont need anything else.

Okay so we have 4 drivers so far (t'other half will want to drive)....If we cant get 10 more together then we might just have to tack on to another tuning arvo.

I actually think you would still have a bit of fun!

The circuits we ran were short, nearly all 2nd gear for me on the track and definately 2nd gear for the skid pan. It not like on a huge circuit where you spend long seconds at full throttle.

There was a bloke there in an ancient Longreach Falcon Ute, it was slow, automatic and had comedy body roll but he still had fun chucking it around and driving through its flaws.

On the Renault Bus...That would definately be a $6 journey!

I think we might have to make up the numbers with non-PH people to get this going....

I dont think we are going to pull enough names just on PH. I think I'm just going to go ahead and book myself a spot for the 22nd May trackday...get in quick if anyone else feels like going!!

Nah not for one or two people. Just call AHG on 08 9479 5754 and say you want to do the Tuning Arvo on Friday 22nd. I am going to book my spot this morning.

Which car are you going to take?

Not to worry. I'll phone them in the next couple of weeks anyway I think.
I would be taking my Nissan Silvia S13. Haven't had it on the track yet so quite keen to see how it would cope.

I think it would be pretty good fun. They have a nimble chassis and are quite light, AHG is short and in my car is nearly all 2nd gear so massive power would probably be more of a hinderance than a help.

Can't make it now. AAAARRRRGGGGGGG

Got the car serviced last week and I've bought a new helmet as well but now I have to do a presentation for work.
The senior engineer can't make it so I'm left to meet with the client.

Gutted.

If anyone wants to join Deviant on Friday, you can have my spot.

Apologies Dev but I couldn't get out of this one.
