Air Freight costs

I'm trying to work out the most cost effective way of moving out to Oz. Does anyone have any rough estimates of air freight costs from London to Sydney.

Presumably it's based on weight, so would be really useful to have a rough cost per Kg if such a thing exists.

If you want cost effective then air freight costs will make you shudder. Are you talking about personal effects or a complete home? If the latter you would get a container and have it come by sea. Would take 6-16 weeks IIRC. Sure there are people with first hand knowledge tho. I packed my life into about 3 tea chests!

We're thinking that we'll leave most things behind, especially if we rent out our house, so it would just be the basics that we can;'t fit in our suitcases
