Hi all,

As most of you are aware I shall be bringing the Noble over next year. It is currently having a different exhaust fitted and some re-mapping done.

What tests do they do when my import lands on Ozzie shores. I know I will have to look at changing my BOV to a re-circ BOV.

I'm mainly concerned with what emission limits and how they test for them. I may either have a second map done for this or they maybe able to achieve it for normal UK use.

I shall be living in Sydney so I assume it will arrive in a Sydney port.

Cheers

What year build is it because this may determine the requirement.

At the moment when we present an ICV ( kit ) for rego we have to undergo a form of emissions test, we have something called IM240 ( Emissions for 240 seconds ) which equates to a redundant standard and depending on what you are expected to meet it could be an incremental % improvement on the IM240 standard.

Doesn't help much because it is a vague but it is probably as close as you will get to accurate advice without a clear definition of your car then others who have come from OS before you will be able to better advise.

The car is 2001, I suppose it's the emission levels I'm after and at what revs and for what amount of time (maybe 240 secs is the answer)

If you are bringing it in as a Personal Import, then my reading of the rules is that it does not need to comply with ADR's except for some safety-related items which tend to vary state-by-state. eg child car seat mounting points behind rear seats.

I don't know about NSW, but when I brought a Personal Import into WA a bit over a year ago, there was no emissions testing whatsoever.

That sounds like good news. I'm aware they are against exposed air filters and Blow off valves to air (a must to keep turbos from slowing during gear changes). So I need to look at a recirculating BOV but the filter are closed as STD.

What about noise, are any checks done on this. It's not that loud like a boy racer car but it can be about 95db at full chat.
