Hmmm...lots of KMS on it and 10 years old..I know its an M5 and one would be a bit of a dream car for me to but when you ignore the badge and get down to looking at prices you can get a lot of HSV for the same money and with compareable (superior?!?!) performance.Potentially, maybe, could be in budget. wibble....

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread as I'm seriously thinking about selling the Monaro and only spending <$20K on a replacement...

I assume you've posted that on the wrong thread? Must be due to the major forum realignment going on?8-4 sounds all well and good except when it's 3 days of 8am-4am and then back to standard 10-12 hour days.

Not as luxurious as the Monaro and probably doesnt have air con and all that but it looks like your kind of car!I've also had a couple of 2nd gen (Series 5) and another one of those would be on the list. Reasonably quick, handle fairly well and lots of toys. Sold my last one about 5 years ago for around $14K.

Some have tiny back seats, some none at all. Prolly wouldn't work for me.

The FD like the one in the OP is a fantastic car. My mate Russell has just built one to race in Street cars at Wanneroo but before that he had one as a road car. Used to keep it in my garage so I used it a bit. Great looking car, I reckon the best of the RX7 line. Bear in mind they were over $100K when they stopped importing them, I don't think we got the Series 8 here at all (although there are a few imports here now). The turbo rotary is a great engine, and it's relatively easy to get big BHP from them.

hmm, very tempting.... very tempting indeed. Some have tiny back seats, some none at all. Prolly wouldn't work for me.
Back seats not required so apart from reliability and fuel its a tempting proposition.
I like my cars clean and unmodded so would like one and take it back to as new condition...
I think the series 8 is available here as an import. www.fabcar.com.au in Vic Park normally have a few examples you could nose around. While you are there stick your head in the showroom and see if they still have the DeTomaso in there!
Rotaries always get a bad rep...especially on the net. Its true they need carefull tuning but with proper maintenance they should last a long time and the power / $$$$ ratio works out well on them. I guess the trick is making sure you get a well looked after car in the first place.

I really like that! Looking at those engine mods wouldnt it have around 300BHP? I can imagine the clutch it has got is a royal pain and possibly slightly overkill unless its a real torque monster.Gassing Station | Australia | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
