No laughing now: Aftermarket HSV tuners around Perth?
Discussion
I know I've only just got the car but the standard exhaust system is very tame!
It's almost impossible to hear that V8 burble.
I'm not after straight throughs or glasspacks, or even the Corsa system I have on the Corvette but I would love to get that rumble noise clearly audible.
From my experience a sports/performance exhaust system releases a few more horses too.
Well it does on the LT5, I know less about the LS2 though.
Also, an exhaust upgrade usually requires and ECU upgrade too.
Anybody know a good tuner, recommendations?
Cheers in advance,
V.

I have a cordless drill...I can help with the noise part but I cant promise any more power.
Take the carpets out and open the glovebox?
MX5?
I was nosing around looking at VE SSeseses a while and found there is a simply mahoosive range of bolt on bits for Holdens. It seems that most workshops claim to be able to modify them with varying degrees of workmanship and price. Even Repco sell bolt on goodies.
I cant remember the forum I browsed but I just had a quick look and found there is a commodore car club of WA so maybe start there? http://www.commodorecarclubwa.com/
I guess the most obvious choice of bolt on bits would be Walkinshaw Performance...their parts list is very sexy and priced to match!http://www.walkinshawperformance.com.au/wp/2008/aus/
There is also CAPA but I dont know if they have a WA agent. http://www.capa.com.au/
Just searching for 'holden exhaust system' brings up a few hundred thousand results!

Many thanks James.
I wasn't being lazy and hoping someone would "letmegooglethatforyou.com", honest.
I was looking for horses-mouth recommendations or "I know a bloke who took his car to..." type tips.
That club you found is probably as good a starting point as any so I'll give that a whirl.

Go and spend a few dollars on a Perth car magazine called
http://www.perthstreetcar.com/index2.htm
They should be in most magazines stores over there.
If you can't find an exhaust in there...I will fall over! maybe get a few back issues as there is normally a lot of stuff on the newer Holdens and Fords in there including tuning.
Try and hear as many as you can....If you want noise then it doesn't really matter, but some people want some noise but not nasty droning at highway speed.
Do you get channel 31 over there? I can't remember. Try and watch a show called Gasolene. If fact I think it might be available to watch online.
http://www.c31.org.au/new/
Watch the 3rd of February episode, it is about 30 minutes long but half of it will be of interest to you. After the old 57? Chev.
The workshop concerned is in Melbourne (Yes, I do have to declare a conflict of interest, they do sponsor where I normally live.) but similar products and shops are available in Perth.

Some great stuff
Brilliant, thanks Motomk, all sounds good.
I have seen that mag but would that spring to my mind when I'm looking to do stuff to the car...
Thanks for declaring an association/interest, not a problem to me if people have to make a living.
I hate the "something-for-nothing" expectation from certain types.
We don't get 31 here, well not on Foxtel anyway, their channel numbers are all 3 digits and I have not come across it on terrestrial either. I will check the web though.
After the minimal research so far Walkinshaw are short listed, I had a sort of association with TWR in Chipping Norton a few years ago anyway.
Right I'm off downstairs to get that mag.
Cheers,
V.

Vanya,
I can personally recommend Bill Lee Automotives at 9 Ruse St, Osborne Park, WA, 6017 tel 9443 7741. He's been modifying performance Holdens like forever and he modified my road Group A Commodore and prepared/maintained my racing Group A Commodore for Wanneroo in the late 80's before I moved to the UK. Tell him that Dennis Norgard said "hi".

I was racing in Street Cars at Wanneroo from 81 to 91 in a Mazda RX3. IIRC were you a mate of John Farrell and Ian Love? I caught up with Ian at Coco's a year or so ago.
Cheers

Hi Dennis,
Wow... just around the corner, great.
He goes to the top of the list.
I'll pass on your hi to him.
Many thanks,
