Speeding ticket
Discussion
Hey all,
on the Friday over New Year and Christmas that was not a public day off in Perth, i was driving from Guilderton to CBD for work.
its 7:30am, sunny, dry, perfect visibility and i am following a motorbike.
hidden half behind a tree, is a scamera. the bike sails through, i get flashed.
i thought i was doing around 98k's. its a 90 zone. (on a dual carraigeway section of the road)
the OHMS letter came through two days ago, so its taken >40 days to produce.
the photo says '101' the notice letter says '100'
i get 4 points and $150 fine.
what is the point of taking this to court? would i win? get a lessened fine? have to pay court costs?
i wouldn't be so angry, but the motorbike is immune to front facing cameras, one law for some....

4 points!!! W..T..F?!?! Oh now wait..I am assuming you were prevented from crashing on that arrow straight road in full daylight and it also stopped you doing hektik skidz y0? Serves you right ya blahdy hoooon!!!
You could fight it in court if you wanted but I dont think you would get far. Its a pretty solid case of you exceeding the speed limit with no good reason. If you go to court you risk having a bigger fine and more points slapped on you.
Sadly the "7:30am, sunny, dry, perfect visibility" type stuff does not wash with the law in Aus. Its a very black and white "Speed limit was XX, you were doing XXX"....unless the pin you under the hoon laws.
The only thing you could investigate is the time it has taken to get the ticket. 40 days is a hell of a long time and unless there is a picture of the drivers face I would really struggle to remember who was driving the car that day
I also think they take so long to give tickets to make it hard for you to fight it.
