Other than the speeding the drivers here have got it really easy.

You can tailgate, pull out regardless, fail to indicate, obstruct traffic, cut people up, drive a charabang / circus car, fail to observe, drive without due care and attention, drive a powerful car with limited ability and low-cost insurance, sit on the phone, text away, drift between freeway lanes, speed away from traffic lights, not bother to change your light bulbs that have blown, get angry and swear at other road users for no apparent reason, wear huge chest wigs, burn out your transmissions....

You could say that all the police seem to do is tax collection for driving a couple of kph over a limit that is set far too low for current car technology and the size of the state, but then catching speeders is a bit like going hunting in a zoo. Far less difficult than catching bad drivers. And the politicians ignore the issues above and just blame speeding for casualties. Equally you could also say that the driving in WA has been allowed to remain at such a poor standard that it would not be safe to increase speed limits.

Now, I am not convinced the UK has it right at all with road traffic police. They let speed cameras do their job for years but that is now changing as roadcraft suffered and they realised that it was killing people. If you put the UK police over here for a week and applied the UK laws, they would prosecute hundreds and hundreds of drivers.

That's why you have never had it so good! Enjoy while you can! In the UK you would be prosecuted.

I couldn't agree more.
Substitute NSW for WA and still very true.

To be honest I would like to live under the UK style laws where poor roadcraft is punished.
