Can bike engined kit cars be imported to Australia?

Would it be possible to import a bike engined car to Australia. Are there any complications , or are they totally frowned upon?

I think its a bit of a grey area. I believe that at the moment WA is the only state you can register a BEC built HERE. In other states they dont meet any noise or emissions regs.

As a personal import though you have much more freedom on what you can bring in so you might be able to get away with it.

There are a couple of threads here on PH Aus that deal with the ins and outs of how to do a personal import.

You could also search / ask on http://www.oz-clubbies.com/forums/ for the specifics on what you can do with kits here.

If your thinking of moving here from abroad I strongly reccomend you do your research and bring a personal import in...many of us ex-pats are kicking ourselves for not doing it!!!
