As above. Whats the Perth event like? Really enjoyed the UK event(s) and pretty much guaranteed half decent weather here. So, anyone going?

Yeah, we're heading over for the weekend, mainly just to see Perth and surrounds but will also check out the race whilst we're there too.

Not going for grandstand seats or anything, will just try to find somewhere reasonable to watch from the shore for a couple of hours if possible.

We were going to go, but at $100 per ticket, I think we'll give it a miss.

The shore line will be packed too.

Makings of another Perth meet up there!!

Its good but gets horribly crowded...like all of Perth will show up and it can be really hot. Worth a trip for the freeness though.

went to the perth event - great weather, lots of space, had a great weekend. had grandstand tix for both days but sun was too warm to bake in a plakky chair so sat on the beach just on the sth side of the stand - much better and free with an awesome view of the circuit and a big creen right in front of us. my 1st oz one and would go again without bothering with the paid seats (were $68 per day advance purch).

Saw it at Longleat in 2005 and in Budapest 06 & 07. Hard to top the budapest event for speccy factor Eastern EU style (eg QANTAS flypast minima 1000ft - Malev 767 virtually climbed to get over the chain bridge in 2006!) plus was lucky to watch the 07 Budapest from a large boat. Bonus factor in HU is that 20th Aug is national day so they have a kickarse festival/fireworks on the danube after the race.

Would go Perth again but I am a big fan of the sport so prob biased. Mrs GTS felt same if that balances perspectives a tad.

a piccy tells a thousand words....

My 2 cents worth. I would pay for seats again as i think the extra height gives a better view, especially for pics.
Went to Longleat in 2006 but the weather was terrible, it was cancelled basically due to high winds. London in 2007 was fantastic and a decent backdrop (Canary Wharf). Perth's do was great, and nice t see the Saturday had the pit/hanger area open. I dont think most events do now?
I will have to download some piccies
