Plus's
- The format of the show was OK becuse identical to UK version

Negative's
- Should have made up an Aussie Stig with his own name, rather than giving the impression its the original one
- Their test track was perhaps a bit short
- AND THE PRESENTERS WERE COMPLETE AND UTTER TO&&ERS
- As Im a Satria GTi driver...........Protons are not that bad, I think the next GTi will be that shape, and even the top of the range GXR looks (with the body kit)OK.

all IMHO of course

I didnt really like it that much.

It came across as just being scripted to be like TG UK. Even the sillyness in the softroaders came across as being scripted to be like TG UK.

I though Charlie Cox was quite good though but the other 2 just grated.

The test track is crap. It looked like it is not a complete circuit and is just a straight line with some cones to mark out some chicanes. Not enough opportunity for the 'star' to lose it. I thought the little Proton did well though and sounded pretty darn rorty!!

The cars they had on were not that interesting and were not given more than a couple of minutes..like the Maybach: "Here is the Maybach, its $1million...its got headphones" and that was it?!?!

The Porsche review was average and the footage very stock looking...just the same corner being driven back and forth at low speed.

I could have done without the Lambo being started and then redlined...didnt add anything to the show and even the audience were silenced by the stupidity of it. I fear that vehicular abuse is going to be all to common though, the footage of upcoming episodes showed an Audi R8 doing some serious circle work.

I knew it was going to be like this based on the TG Aus magazine...it was exactly the same as the UK magazine only with local advertisement and a couple of extra articals penned in Aus.

Having said all that though it might improve...the first series of 'new format' TG UK was horribly scripted and wooden but came good in the end.

I didn't even watch it until the end, got bored, and was cringing watching them try to give the impression they knew one another ike the UK presenters.

But it's new to them, so I'll give it some time to settle down a bit. Like said before the UK version was rubbish at first, but got better.

But why have they got a cartoonist as one of the presenters?? and his review of the maybark was awful. I hope he get's better.

Don't despair... they had to start somewhere and if nothing else it's better nothing.

I do agree with the observations above and I think it will only help the show to go from strength to strength when it has it's own identity.

I wasn't expecting much judging by comments already made elsewhere on the interweb by some audience members during the show's recordings.
This tells me it's going to stay the same for this season more or less, but hopefully they'll listen to their audience for season 2... maybe!!!

Hosts werent great, but werent awful. The young was at least enthusiastically ok and quite into it. The 'JC' character had annoying hair.

Thought that it wouldnt be just like the UK show. How wrong i was. But s'pose thats not a bad thing as its agreeable format, but then you have something to compare it to.

However, content was awful. The camera work, albeit like the UK one, was repetitive. The Porsche segment was awful, pointless and boring as hell. The presenter added nothing to it, there was one interior whilst driving shot and it was so so boring. Highlights how slow you have to drive in oz.

The fishing with a moke was laughable. seemed to be funny, but then the editing was atrocious and just seemed to finish as it got started. I think the amount of grainy shots of fishing boats at the beginning of it to pad out the story was indicative of the whole program really.

I'm not sure who the camera men are but they were crap, the camera was a million miles from any of the action on the track, they had some awesome cars and showed very little of them, but what they did show was a joke - the chicane? what chicane? didnt even see some of the cars move at all.

'What were they thinking?' board. Good idea. But putting the Legnum on there? What, because its called Legnum? Er, ok. Thats terrible isnt it. giving it a mildly silly name.

And yes, agreed on the maybach. Not one ounce of content. not one.

I will keep watching it, and make no apologies that i will probably be on here whining about it because 1. Theres nothing else to watch & 2. I'm a pom arent i - thats what we do.

Just watched it on youtube, it was bad, why are they trying to do the same thing as the UK one? They would be better off putting people on the screen that have their own personality rather than trying to be Clarkson etc.

Watched it, in all its terribleness. OK, so the presenters are new, but to just copy the format entirely, from set layout to features, adds nothing.

As others have said, the content was risible. I know they're aiming for a programme that just shows blokes having a laugh with cars, but some of us are a bit older than 15, and we like to see more than skin shots.

The soft-roaders - how good were they, what did they drive like, what was good/bad/indifferent???? Three of the most popular cars here get pride of place as the first feature of a widely-anticipated show, and not one ounce of detail.

The Porsche has an unpronouncable gearbox. Whoop-de-feckin-doo! Test track was far too short and no camera shots seem to cover it. Maybach feature was as pointless as the car - hmm, maybe that was the point...

Oh, and next week is Ford v Holden. Christ, out of ideas already.

I've already watched the next season of TG UK on Finalgear, so have a looooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnng wait till the next interesting car programme gets aired.

Having said all that, I will give it time in the hope that, just like TG UK did when it was fronted by William Woolard (sure it was him) and Tony Pond, it can only get better.

hmm, slight improvement, but its just so, umm, empty. I just didnt feel like i got my 'car fix' from it.

The Ford V Holden didnt really tell me anything apart from a few quips on handling and a bit about the ford not being fast until it was too fast for the speed limits.

Also the editing must have been done by a child because the sound didnt match the engine noise v car actions.

I find it very sloppy and offers literally no education or info on the cars.

Also, how ugly were the women in the front row? Jeez my tv screen was offended by them.

However fair play for actually talking cars to the celebrities rather than just promoting the latest cack film/book/tv series.

Do you think there will be a poster of Top Gear Australia on the 'What were they thinking' Wall before long?

That was truly embarrasing. Absolutely pathetic. I was going to remain open minded, I thought the first was bad but hoped for improvement but tonight was 10 times worse.

Were the Falcon and Commodores autos? Looked like it, still I suppose that caters for the majority of moronic aussie drivers. The childish game in the mine was a farce, bet KCGM are glad they allowed these idiots in there... as for the utes they wrecked, well I imagine several car companies are rethinking their media loan policies.

Why do they feel the need to shout all the time? The main presenter puts on a ridiculous growling voice; is it supposed to be the brainless aussie "tough guy" image? And what is the grinning unshaven one supposed to look like?

I didn't watch till the end, couldn't stomach it and had phone calls to make. As I said to Oli tonight you have to wonder how they could look at the finished show and feel in any way proud of their work.

Yep those Falcodores were auto's!! There was not one comment in that 5 minute segment that talked about the brakes, if the auto was any good, how it handles, the build quality....anything you need to know about a car. Clarkson might be a bit of an idiot at times but at least he passes on some sort of information and an opinion on the car.

I'm still not entirely sure what the layout of the track is and did anyone else notice the dust on the track?!?! They will never get any sort of cornering speed out of the cars with the track in that condition.

I got the impression with the Ford GT40 that they had a very strict rev limit. Charlie Cox barely gave it any and shirley if the Skyline GTR thingo was limited to 180KMH for most of the lap the GT40 should have trounced it if it was allowed max RPM?!?!

The star in the car thing was OK last night. I quite like the noise that little Proton makes.

The Smart car feature was anus. The Ute feature was stty anus.

anus anus anus anus anus

I download top gear, and fith gear from the UK, and watch it the day after it's been aired. I never liked fith gear, but it's loads better than this Austalian top gear rubbish.

I wondered if they are scared of the manufacturers pulling there car's if the presenters slate them. I mean look at last night, with the head to head test between ford and comm. The finishing statement said it all..... their both good car's.!! What???? What a load of tosh. OH yeh, I didn't manage to watch it all either. I watched it up to star in a car, once that had finished, I was off to clear out the garage for the impending furniture arrival.
