Ok guys we have been muttering about it in other threads so lets get this going.

Beer? Bit of an easy one...just agree on a pub and meet there.

Karting? A few places to choose from. Henderson and Wanneroo both have outdoor tracks. Barbagello circuit has superkarts on track but I think can be a bit pricey unless you do 'arrive and drive'.
I seem to remember there is somewhere around that does 'slide karts' which are always huge fun and very un-serious...polished concrete circuit and karts with well loved tyres means you spend the entire thing sideways. I think slide karts would be good because there is nothing to be gained in...err..weight advantage :P or skill so we should be able to run together.
The karts on Barbagello would be good to because its all flat out. If we get an idea on numbers then we can begin to get some prices.

Trackday? We can organise a skidpan event at AHG just for us. They layout a course with cones and we would get an entire morning or afternoon for something like $80 each with an instructor. The course is short but its fun for tooling around and making some noise, I have seen all sorts of cars mess about on there so it doesnt really matter what car you bring.

Clotted Cream? A run out in to the Swan Valley for lunch and devonshire tea with clotted cream?

Day Trip? York Motor Museum? I think there is an aviation museum ooop north somewhere?

Any other ideas? crazy golf? Shooting range?

Henderson Karts:

http://www.kartshop.com.au/karthire_corporate.htm

Indoor karts in Belmont...I have been on these and they are only 9hp hire karts. Foot down and dont brake at all. They can do a 20 lap session for $200 though...not sure if they will do that for a group or not.

http://www.kartworldbelmont.com.au/index.html

Slide Karts...only 3 on track at a time though

http://www.indoorkart.com.au/services.html

Ultrafast Karts on Barbagello circuit...a bit pricey for a race but I am sure they do an 'arrive and drive' thats something like $50 for 10 or 15 mins. The Jacks Hillclimb karts look a bit...err..meh

Shooting complex in Belmont...this looks to be manly and a bit of a larf:

Something they dont tell you about before moving to Australia.

You cant get clotted cream with any sort of regularity!!

If you go to a tea house or cafe and they have 'devonshire tea' all you will get is a microwaved scone with squirty cream out of a can all over it that melts and turns to water. With most of us being poms we keep threatening to go on a drive to the swan valley area to find someone that does a decent devonshire tea.

Used to be a place on a hill in York that did ok.

Motor Museum in York was not bad....nice drive out there and usually plenty of places to eat afterwards. I won't mention how long ago I went out there.

Only Aviation Museum I remember was in Bullcreek which is south of the river I believe.

Should try and organise something while Oli (Silent1) is here. He arrives on 30/9 and is staying at my place for a few days before heading to work in Esperance.
Beers somewhere or a Swan Valley run or Karting? I won't be going to York, personal reasons for me not going out that way...

This could get to be quite a big event....

So what are peoples favourite options so far? Any new ideas?

I think we are still missing a response from some of the other guys that went to Freo.

Hmmm BTaP....we could always go for spomething similar and go for an evening meal and bar session in the city?
Or should we do the meet aussie style and decend on the BBQ's at one of the beaches?

On the clotted cream front, wifey and I will be par taking in a sampling this weekend in the swan valley, (all in the name of research you understand), so will report the findings back next week. It's got a really good write up, so will be dissapointed if a microwave scone arrives with cream from a can.!!!!

I just realised that the visitors will be here next weekend!!

So what does everyone fancy doing? If the weather is fit a beachside BBQ is always pleasant and cheap to do....beer, meat, bread..jobs a good 'un! Everyone bring something and we tip it in a heap on the BBQ and stir it for 3 minutes on luke warm.

Tim..do you know when / what time they are flying in? Have any of them been to aus before?

Which karts are people interested in if at all? Henderson is probably the most central location and within a decent drive to a beachside bbq?

Oli arrive next Wed and the other 2 arrive Tuesday but only till Saturday. Bigburd & SPR2 are at the GP this weekend so don't know any other details.

Oli has to be in Esperance 7/10 so I guess he might leave Sunday or maybe Monday 6/10.

So I guess the Saturday looks best, will point them to this thread but I know Oli has just finished harvest there so might be a "bit busy"...

Typical, just had a txt from a great friend's wife asking me to his birthday bbq in Mandurah on that Sat 4/10... still if we end up going for something in Freo then Oli & I could duck down to Mandurah for a couple of hours before or after scratchchindriving

Hi guys, I flew into Perth on Wednesday. Not sure if I'll still be about for the meet as I'm travelling Northwards soon but if I am I may make an appearance in my $2k Volvo smile
