BMW C1 bike - Sold in Australia?

Anyone know if the BMW C1 scooter type thing was ever officially sold in Australia? The weird looking one with the roof.
Been trying to track one down as a potential alternative to a standard motorbike or scooter since i like the extra protection they give with the roof/roll bars etc & since i don't really trust riding a standard motorbike in Melbourne traffic. Perfectly happily rode one in central London for several years but the lack of observation and anticipation skills of drivers in Melbourne takes it to a whole new level.
Can't seem to find any advertised however, although have definately seen at least 1 that parks in the street just down from my office. Wondering if this was maybe an import and as such finding one for sale might be a tough one.
