So now all our shiny gifts are here we have to organise a meet.

The coming weekend is no good for me, I have to go to a wedding in Albany rolleyes

The following Saturday (2nd August) is good for me but not Sunday.

Me and fiddlemesticks are down in Rockingham but I dont really expect everyone else to make the treck down especially if anyone wants a drink...

....Sooooo I was thinking Freo would be a good option? Its central for everyone (I think) and not that busy on Saturday afternoons. Lots of cheap grub around the place to.

I can particularly recomend the beer at 'Madmonk' on High Street. They brew their own beers there and its not as packed as Little Creatures.

Oh and wives can come to...they can go for a walk and a natter and be designated drivers biggrin

Any other ideas?

Ahhhh I see. I seem to remember seeing some young uns at the madmonk last time I was there...but I think they are only allowed in the outdoor area.

Freo is good for a wander if she gets bored of dad talking cars.

If I convince my new "friend of the female persuasion" to join us we will prolly have her 2 year old daughter with us.

I have 2 daughters 16 and 10 but unlikely to have either of them.

I would be up for coming along too, but if it is Saturday then I would have to be leaving Freo no later than 1pm. If you guys fancied kicking off at about midday I could drop in for a quick meet and greet.

I think it still looks like the weekend of August 9th is the go.

Would definately prefer the Saturday because Sunday gets disgustingly busy and you can never get parking and all the bars and restaurants get over crowded.

That Sat would be fine for me. Just put it in the diary.
I'll probably be on my own, not sure how this new "thing" is going to go yet, besides she's not into cars at all... met her through the live music scene, I've traditionally found I need to keep my car and music interests separate to avoid any arguments.

Lol, sounds like what I have to do.

The joys of being into the art/music scene but also the car scene. Like having a hidden life

Yeah it can be a pain sometimes. Also seems to depend on what type of music I'm around, I have very broad tastes and try to sample a variety. Around the rock/ blues scene there seem to be more people into cars (and bikes). Having said thet, the friends I see at the regular Sunday arvo blues gig are a real mix from the Harley riders to the Wiccan types, all a great bunch of people though, and I certainly don't need to hide or pretend around them.

Would probably park out of sight when going to see John Butler thoughwink

Silly thing is, I'm seeing 14L/100Km average from the Monaro since I've had it, not brilliant but not as bad as a lot would assume, in fact probably better than an automatic people mover or similar... plus I'm averaging <200KM/week in it and probably about the same in my work van. Still, facts don't matter once you get into an argument with a lenilist, eh?

Hi,
I'm up for Freo or anywhere !

As I don't get a chance to log in often or even check home email is there some way that we could get an email group going that would have my work email on it ?

I'll make sure I check in again before next weekend anyway though.

Just a suggestion but having attended various smaller meetings of petrolheads before the more enjoyable have always included a bit of a drive, cars always look / sound better when on the move. Should we meet up somewhere and drive to Freo ?

I'll probably bring my 10 yr old son along also.

Regards

Mattserati

Good idea Chunder. For the sake of sticking my oar in, I would vote for a gathering at Belmont Park or Burswood, which are both close to the city and have big carparks where we can find each other. From there, hop on Graham Farmer Fwy, through the tunnel, and down to Freo.
Anyone else like to comment or suggest?
