Don't know who owns it but have seen it around for a couple of years now.

An ex Shire boy will have his SC Honda engined Elise out at Oran Park next weekend for a one hour enduro.

First time I had seen it was this weekend, I'll keep em peeled and if I see him when Im in the Elise I'll try to get him to acknowledge.

Sounds interesting - which day is it going to be there... (he says hoping its going to be the Sunday!) I was up at Oran park a couple of weeks back, seems a shame that place is going to close as the circuit is actually quite good from what I saw...

Unfortunately not much on the OP web site, but on next weekend, just what is in this post here.

On of my staff members built the circuit and tell me we have at least into 2010 before closure, I hope his info is right.

I'll have a search round Aussie Elises and see if there is anything on there, if I find out I'll post something up.

Apparently the Oran Park site is going to become a housing estate, it'll be a large area for sure but such a waste... unless...you can have the house with the track in your back-yard! laugh

There are some works in progress to provide alternative facilities.

Unfortunately local Council's don't like the idea due to green warriors and NIMBY's.

There is currently a proposal by Newcastle MG Car Club and Motorplex Australia for a large development just north of Raymond Terrace (near Newcastle) which would involve a drag strip, circut and hill climb on the current site, currently only a hill climb circut. It's located next to a quarry and a motorcross track, but was refused by both Port Stephens Council and the Land and Environment Court. I hope to be speaking to the director soon to get some other possible options explored.

I have also heard whispers about someone who is synomous with driver education and oran park who is looking at providing a new facility in the southern highlands...

That might be Murcotts then? They run various courses at Oran Park which I have to say are actually very good too. I was on one a few weeks back and I was actually very impressed with the way they did things.

Good news there is something else 'potentially' in the making - if your in discussion with them it might also be worth suggesting a 4x4 course...!

From what I have heard it is actually tied in with another company...

I imagine the 4WD section would be retained. They currently have one which seems quick successfuly.

I really want to get the one in Raymond Terrace off the ground. Such a wasted opportunity from Council.
