I don't know whether this is just a local thing but the BIB are having a field day with yellow stickers over here.
My ex wife dropped my daughter off here this morning, her car is a BA XR6 Falcon, in very good condition, she got stopped for speeding (61 in a 50, $150 thanks) and they stickered the car. Claim the tyres are bald (I looked at them, < 1 year old, plenty of tread) and one headlight slightly dim. She already had the car booked in for service/ alignment/ headlight next week but they weren't interested.

I've just dropped Nikki back home and in 5 minutes saw at least 6 cars with yellow stickers.

Now I have no argument with putting dangerous cars off the road, but as usual it looks like they are taking the piss.

Again it seems to be about money and meeting quotas!

Another warning...A new type of speed camera I spotted when I was soutbound on Kwinana fwy a week back.

Some sort of white, 4X4 Ute parked at an angle half on the hard shoulder and half on the grass with its hazards on. The ute had a fibreglass canopy on it and a ladder and plastic pipe on the roof.

As the traffic I was with approached I did the usual and backed off to give myself some extra time in case the vehcile pulled out or someone stepped out....and its a good job I did because as the lead car in the traffic got close there was a flash from the back of the ute!!!

I had a look on the way past and yep there was a camera in the back and a look in the mirror as I passed showed the ute to be 2 up with blue shirts on!!

bds! Again proves (as if we needed proof) that the campaign has zero to do with safety, and as you say is solely about raising the most money mad

I was very suprised that there were 2 police officers in the ute...Normally cameras are manned by some old bloke in a hi vis jacket. I guess they were waiting for someone to go past doing a quite terrifying 75MPH so they could pull them over and give them the ticket there and then.

I always see cameras on the fwy...its so bloody annoying because its a looooong straight empty road and you are forced to sit there at 100KMH!

I see in the news this morning the government has promised a miniscule amount of money to supposedly improve driver education. Not sure if I heard right but they said only $1million!! No doubt all they can do with that is roll out another log book scheme or create some new laws for P platers to stick to.

Sooner or later there is going to have to be some motorists body stand up to the revenue raising and fight it on the grounds that they are not being placed in accident blackspots or anywhere that could be regarded as useful in reducing speeds. Something has to be done to counter the brainwashing that seems to have occurred to a large part of the general public, which ultimately leads to lower driving standards and more dangerous roads.

The new Aussie Top Gear is going to be interesting because if it follows the same performance related format no doubt it will end up being banned.

In fact I might write to the Commisar and ask for it to be looked into, considering it glorifies the fact vehicles can be driven safely at speeds in excess of the freeway limit. Even Ford and GM steer clear of that, preferring to show 300kw vehicles idling.

The general attitude that comes across to me is "I'm not speeding so therefore I'm safe."

There are very few drivers on the roads but there are lots of motorists.

It saddens me to say it but I get very little pleasure from road driving now and often find it stressful and frustrating.
