Are these any good? They are down from $1300 to $600, we fancy one because we can put it away the bits of the year its not being used so there is less ongoing maintenance and also there is no permanent modifications to the house or yard and the costs associated with that.

Bloody hell!! Haven't seen one of these but for that money it looks like a bargain, hours of funwink
Where have you seen it? If it is through one of my suppliers I can see what price I can get. (Although at that price I doubt if there is much in it)

Actually it looks similar to the one my brother has in England. I've emailed him to ask him about it. I have a pic of his but on my old computer, haven't transfered them to the new box yet.

Found it on here

http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/inflatable-spa-by-...

looks to be a bit of a bargain....I'm guessing at that price its probably 'end of line' stock and is about to be replaced with something else.

Do you know the brand? Wondering how long the pump / heater will last....though if it blows up after 2 summers of use I would think you are still under the original $1300 price after replacing the bits.
Are the materials its made from durable? It would be put in an area of the patio that doesnt get any direct sun.

Just spoke to one of my suppliers, he looked at these but the margins were too small for him to stock. He thinks they are quite good, but had some concern about availability of spares. His nearest similar product is a "soft tub" at around $4K...

Just had a look at the video on the site, does look good. The filter is tiny, would need to clean it regularly (weekly?), would be worth getting a spare cartridge to swap over.

I'll add more if my brother gets back to me. I'm tempted to get one myself...

Though if the pump / heater exploded I'm sure the likes of Clark Rubber or the multitude of pool shops would have an alternative unit to replace it with?
I doubt I would have it set up for the winter months so even if its 2 years of use to kill it that would potentially still be 4 summers of use.....for $600 purchase! Better than a $5000 spa exploding on you biggrin

Is the pool itself just rubber like a paddling pool or is it that thick, cnavas feeling stuff...like pool liner?

EDIT: When your supplier talked of spares supply are we talking replacement motor parts or the risk of it having a non standard filter size or something silly like that?

EDIT 2: http://www.drinkstuff.com/products/product.asp?ID=... order from the UK and get those 3 lovelies with it biggrin
I did a search on yahoo and the brand seems to be known around the world so I would think bits can be found in the UK and USA if needs be

FFS EDIT 3: http://www.lovelylingfield.com/portable_spa_bestwa...
Seems it is the last model and this link states there were problems with the heater...but then the place to buy it from in Aus gives you a 12month warrantee...

WAIT!! DOnt get the credit card out juuuust yet...a quick scan of ebay found this:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&a...

http://search.ebay.com.au/search/search.dll?from=R...

From what I can see the blue one in the original link is the 'series 1' and this beige one is the lates 'series' 2....and even with postage and assuming you win the auction would be slightly cheaper scratchchin

Got this reply from my brother re the blue one:

"Yes, it's the same as mine which is fine for me, R and the kids but I wouldn't want four adults in it I don't think!

Excellent for me and A to do whirlpools in as wellwink

Heats from cold to 38degrees in about 6 hours, filter seems to work okay but you can't start heating it until it is nearly full as the inlets are quite high up the side.

We've had ours 2 years this year (third summer we will be using it) and it seems to last okay and the filters/parts are easy to get.

Hope that helps."

Depending on what sort of HWS you have I'd be tempted to add some buckets of hot water when half full, to speed up the warmup, I imagine it's just got a small electric heater which won't be very efficient.

Continuing on from the thread, today we saw the Softub. Look pretty decent and certainly a lot of benefits.

I was wondering if Tim had any advice on these, or if anyone had experienced one?

The 2m diameter one is about $7,500 and wonder what sort of price i could really get one for with a bit of searching/haggling?

or...

Tim, bit of advice if you can help. We're building a new place and our garden space is L-shaped with 3m difference front and side from house to fence, so i understand we're a bit limited on what we can put in. Tim do you know of a good concrete spa provider and again, what sort of price for an above ground, concrete spa say 2m x 2m?

I have seen some companies selling reconditioned ones for a good price. It might be worth keeping an eye on the quoka to because some people sell them dirt cheap as long as you remove it...though I would imagine it would also come with free pubes and other unimaginables.
