UK car stereo on Aus
Discussion
Simple one, can i use a UK car stereo in Australia? For some odd reason it has bacome almost impossible to get some stalk controls here in WA for a honda to Pioneer HU. I am having to get them from the UK, so i thought i would try my luck and get the HU from there too as it is cheaper even including the postage. I know UK/USA dont work cos of radio frequency differences.
PS loving Perth and the surrounding area now i have splashed out on a Honda S2000

Ive just brought my Elise into Australia, I'll have it in my grubby hands next Friday so if you can hold on for a week then I'll let you know if it works and if I can tune the radio in.
One thought - might be worth getting the parts from Japan... dont forget you risk paying duties on bringing in parts from the UK which might make it a little more expensive.
Alternatively, see which country has a free trade agreement with Australia and get the parts from there (Thailand for example has a thing called TAFTA, I think the USA has one too.. worth checking out to save yourself some cash)
Im glad your enjoying Australia... good choice on the car too.

Radio's in my Landrover and TVR worked fine when when I came to Oz. The radio in my Chevy worked in the UK but the FM band had coarser tuning increments so some stations were not possible to properly tune.PS loving Perth and the surrounding area now i have splashed out on a Honda S2000
Yep, UK and Aus use the same FM range. TVR stereo worked fine when i brought it out.
Japan uses the same as the USA from memory so a Japanese model would only get a limited slice at the very bottom of the range used here and in the UK.
Only difference you may notice from the UK is that very few stations out here seem to make use of RDS for station naming display etc.
