I'll be arriving in Sydney on the morning of 4th Nov, my birthday bounce We were last in Sydney 2005 and spent a couple of days there after a long trip around oz so didn't really do much. Can anyone give us some ideas to do this trip? We are staying in the Intercontinental by circular quay for three nights, we do plan on going to Manley but any other ideas greatly appreciated biggrin

Can't help much on places to visit in Sydney being from Melbourne but welcome to Oz.

If you are feeling energetic then the bridge climb has to be on the list.

Cheers

I was born and raised in Sydney and the Manly ferry trip never fails to be enjoyable. 45 minute ride accross the harbour. and I never get tired of it.

From the Quay, get a local ferry to Taronga Zoo as well - a great day out and the zoo is right on the harbour.

Palm Beach is well worth going to - on Sydney's northern beaches and as far north as Sydney goes. Get the bus from city centre - if I remember from outside Wynyard station on George Street (the main street in town). About 75 minute trip

In UK and now feeling homesick after writing this. frown

If you're going to Manly, walk north up the beach and over the headland through Queenscliff to Freshwater Beach, then around the corner to Curl Curl. Its about 3-4km all up and is worth it for the views and for a dip in the water. Bus back to Manly from Curlie if you want. Walk/bus up to North Head is also worth it - go around the walkin gtrack for views across the harbour.

Walk from Manly to The Spit - 2 hours or so ending at Clontarf Beach, which is pretty good. Rent kayaks at The Spit and paddle up through Middle Harbour to Roseville - about 3 hours return.

Free tour of the Governor's House in The Domain gives a history of the settlement of NSW, and the Bridge Climb is fun, but pricey. Go to The Australian in The Rocks for beer and pizza, or catch a ferry to Watson's Bay to wander around South Head and have fish and chips at Doyles. Have some of Australia's best beer at The Lord Nelson, also in The Rocks, or for more beer try The Red Oak Cafe on Clarence St in the city.

Hope you like walking and drinking beer!

look me up, we'll take the Sag out. I'm in the UK at the moment but should be heading back in the next few days when I can get a flight. It's a bull market you know!

Finally got back, had to come back via LAX, not a spare seat anywhere, Qantas stats just out, load capacity now 80%+.

I should be around although I may have to get down to the Melbourne Cup which is on around then. Best is to PHM me a few days beforehand.

Hi mate, we're leaving Sydney tomorrow Morning so won't be about Wednesday, we are coming back on Wed 21st for the night if your about then?

Also I don't suppose you've seen a pimped up RR Phantom on your travels? I was in Bondi yesterday and saw it at the lights, I got a picture and I'll post it when I get back.
