Melbounre Grand Prix 2008 Advice
Discussion
G'day guys,
I am planning a return holiday to Oz in Feb\March 2008, but this time venturing to the east coast, Cairns, Sydney and Melbourne.
I understand the GP is on Sunday 16th March, can anyone confirm.
When and where do tickets go on sale? How much? Where is the best spectators view point?
Can't wait to get back to Oz... may well have my CV with me

You are correct on the dates of the G.P ,being March 16th. It was reported in the national press today see http://www.smh.com.au/motorsport. No word on ticket release timing though. Usually towards the end of the year say November or about.
Guys,
I see they tickets are now available online.
What does general admission entitle you to? Can you get a seat if you turn up early enough.... Can you get a decent view from anywhere, say a raised hill etc.
Can someone please advise where is best to sit. I am talking aboutseats available at the lower end of the price range.... probably only for the Sunday too, don't think my girlfriend will be too chuffed being dragged along for 4 days
Also, which websites can you buy tickets from in Oz? All the websites google returns having pricing in £ or €. I want to buy direct to prevent me from being ripped off. The pricing seems to vary a lot online, even for the same seats.
Thanks in advance.

I live 5 minutes from the track by foot. Each year I go on the Saturday in the General Admission area which is vast and has plenty of viewing mounds on good corners. You can get very close to the cars at turns and IMHO it is not necessary to buy grandstand seats......remember it is often very hot and the seats in general offer no shade (except in the corporate areas which are very expensive). I wander down to the gate at around 9.00 and buy a ticket for around $100 on the Sat and probably $120 if I went Sunday. (currently $1 buys 44p). There is plenty of Backpacker accom here in St.Kilda which is all no more than ten minutes from the track on foot. Plenty of eating places and depending on your age, plenty of night life etc.
Hope this is of help..........contact me direct if I can be of any assistance.
