Daily run about but can be used on track days
Discussion
I'm in the process of moving back to Oz (Canberra) and will be taking my TVR Tuscan with me.
I'll be using the Tuscan as a weekend car with the odd track day thrown in. I need a daily drive but I want to be able to do some track days with it as well (maybe once a month as I'm less than 1 hour from Wakefield Park). I'm looking at a budget of around A$12K to $15K. I'm thinking about an early model WRX at the moment, what about the Commodore or Falcon? I don't need anything that's really quick but something that will be good around town but handle well around a track without much modifications.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If you already have the TVR as a weekend/trackday car, why do you want another compromise?
ie why would you take a Commodore to a trackday when you could take the TVR?
A $15k Falcon or Commodore would be OK as a family/road car, but wouldn't be much use on the track. Go to a trackday and see how many (few) Aussie cars take part...

I'd like to limit the number of track days for the Tuscan to about 3 or 4 a year due to cost etc. I'd like to do maybe 1 or 2 track days a month to improve my driving and really just to have some fun hence the need for a run about that could be used on track days. I think what I'm looking for is something that is good around town but would be fun around a track.
I need to buy a daily drive anyway, so killing 2 bird with one stone would be ideal. Sound like the bigger Aussie cars are no go so something like a WRX or something Japanese are the go.

$12 - $15K will see you in a good Silvia/180SX etc and being as they are so so so popular here among young 'uns there are millions of cheap tuning parts on the market.
Same goes for an R32 GTS-T Skyline
WRX...to be honest I think you would struggle to find anything in that price range!!
Ignore the Commode and Falcoon...

If in the process of coming back to OZ means it may be 12mths before you are back then how about buying something in the UK and importing it also, as long as you have a partner so that 2 cars can be brought in.
That budget would scrape an early Alpina or M or any number of decent cars that either aren't available here or cost too much.
