I have a couple of cars that are not worth much in Oz.

But might be worth a lot more in the UK.

a very early (rust free) Jaguar Mk 2
UK value maybe double Oz value

A Series 3, "Stage 1" V8 Landie.
UK value many times higher than Oz value.

has anyone gone down this road before?
Are there useful online tools to guide me through the process?

thanks all

I've done it a few times importing from UK to Oz where the value is 1.5 to 2X more in Oz than UK. But in the end, never tried to sell them after importing it. Not worth the effort in my case as no one in Oz really wants an imported car unless its less than local value by a fair bit. My intension was always to keep and enjoy them anyway.

Depending if your cars were imported here or original delivered here? You need to factor in export and importing cost, shipping and VAT and duty (if the cars were not originally registered in the UK then import to Oz). All this cost will add about 50 to 100% of the car value depending on how much they are worth. Even then, if its financially worth it, you will still probably need to be either a UK registered business or a UK citizen to import it.

Saying that. I have a TVR Tuscan that has been sitting in my garage for many years. It was originally imported here in 2007 and driven around for nearly 10 yrs before parking it up in the garage but its in pretty good condition still. Worth literally nothing here but prob around UKP 30K. I could in theory, ship that back and not have to pay VAT/Duty because its a car that was originally sold in the UK and VAT/Duty already paid. For me this would only cost a few thousand Aus$ in shipping cost and then get it compliance and registered to sell it. The only time i would think about doing this is that I need the space in the garage but its not on the cards atm.
