I’ve got phone etc etc with Telstra.

Part of that is a Telstra TV box which I use to access all the steaming services, including Binge.

Telstra appear to be winding down Telstra TV and replacing it with a Fetch TV box. Fetch doesn’t cover Binge (owned by Foxtel) or Foxtel.

Telstra are part owners of Foxtel!! And they offer discounted subs to Binge / Foxtel if you are a Telstra customer!

Obviously a rhetorical question, but what sort of moronic organisation decides to phase out their TV streaming service and move to one that doesn’t currently support the steaming services they own?!!

To make it worse their website has a load of contradicting info about whether or not the existing box will keep working, and for how long, but their switch to Fetch for free offer only goes to the end of the month (helpfully hidden away unless you go looking for it).

Oh…and to get the free offer you need to give them your ID details and credit card details despite being signed in to your account from their app on a phone connected to their network!

Bloody Telstra!

Rant over. Probably too parochial for the “Things that Annoy you” thread

I've been searching the net for a solution to this! Bizarre how it's lead me to PH rofl

I pay $1000 PA to Foxtel (mainly for F1 and MotoGP) and I now can't access it! Absolutely ZERO help from Foxtel or Telstra
Telstra shop "I can sell you a Fetch box which is the replacement"
Me "so I can get Foxtel on it"
Telstra "no"...

Foxtel "chat" and tech support - no idea what I'm on about, barely speak English and no suggestions to resolve!

I was advised by several people to buy a "Firestick", I basically had to wait at a JB hifi store for the delivery to arrive as they are selling out in minutes.... BUT you can't download the Foxtel app to the Firestick??!!

I'm at my wits end, did you find a solution eventually?

I'm only a novice to this stuff. I have Foxtel by Telstra.
Do you use the Foxtel app on your smart tv to logon to Foxtel?
I have the main tv on the foxtel box/dish and the others are on the app.
I suspect a techy person will tell me there's a better way to do it!

Unfortunately my 4 year old Sony "smart TV" turned out to be not so smart... apparently (according to Sony Tech support) it runs a Linux OS. It comes preinstalled with Netflix and Youtube, but it won't allow any other downloads. Hence needing the now defunct Telstra TV set top box, but not being able to find out what to replace it with! Neither the Telstra "fetch" nor the Firestick will support Foxtel...

My solution in the end has been to cancel Foxtel and switch to Kayo at a fraction of the cost, and it runs on the Firestick.
