Fines in Europe ?
Discussion
Quick answer is I don’t know.
Who is sending the fines to you?
Sometimes fines for overseas drivers are directed to the hire company, and they pay them and charge your credit card (and often a fee for their admin costs). How did you pay for the car hire? If by credit card, do you still have that card / account?

I had a fine imposed for 'over-enthusiastic driving' during a trip to Italy while living in the UK once. I never paid and nothing happened. I was vaguely worried when next visiting Italy and renting a car from the same company (Sixt) but again, nothing happened. This was almost 20 years ago, though, so it may be that they are a little more on the ball.
I'm pretty sure you'll be OK, albeit for your own peace of mind you could pay it.

In the European Union, for example, member states have mechanisms for cross-border enforcement of traffic fines, but such frameworks do not extend to Australia.
Australian authorities are unlikely to enforce traffic fines issued in another country. However, non-payment of fines may lead to complications should you return to the country where the fines were issued. There might also be repercussions in terms of international debt collection efforts.
