Hi All!

I recently purchased a 1984 Mercedes 280E, it's in lovely condition but would benefit from some very minor paint touchups in a couple of areas.

Can anyone recommend a bodyshop / painter in and around Sydney that they've had a good experience with? Key thing for me is they're sympathethic with it being an older car. The car is very original and as a result I'd like to retain as much of the original paint as possible so not looking for someone who just wants to respray the whole car.

Cheers,
Tim

I have used 'Phoenix Vehicle Restorations' for all my cars for about 8 years.

It's a small business run by one person (Jameel) who is a perfectionist. As well as the work being excellent / undetectable, having low overheads means his prices are reasonable as well.

smile A lot of the cars he works on are very precious and >70 years old. As I said.. perfectionist!

I found him through recommendation after I was looking for someone to repair an awful quality repair (by a large-brand body shop).

I've also sent other friends / neighbours to him and they always come back happy!

Well, went and met Jameel last week - nice bloke indeed - going to use him to tidy up a couple of small bits on the 928 thumbup There were some very, very nice things in his workshop...

Now, don't suppose you know a decent exhaust fabricator too? Don't need a motorsport dude, just a good pair of street pipes. The bloke I was hoping to do the work has left the business.

Lockdown, brakes and sunroof have conspired to keep the car out of Jameel’s place but have finally got it booked in for next month. Went in today, 3 Rolls Royce the newest of which was an S1 Silver Shadow, a 1929 Bentley and an early 356. Oh, and a 2CV….

928 done and looks great. Wasn’t too much to do, just a few small bits, but has made a difference. And very reasonably priced too.

Recommended.
