How hard is it to get a european exotic car (EU small series approved or nationally registerd one-off) on the streets in Australia? Has anyone experience with such a thing? Suggestions how to get these informations about the registration process and the requirements?

Nobody ever imported a european small series (EC SSTA) car then? BAC? Pagani? Ariel? Koenigsegg? Ruf? Something like that?

I've not got anything to add here but would be keen to see any answers from anyone that has or knows. There are Ariel Atoms in the country so it can/has been done.

There are several cars that I would love to import if laws weren't so strict frown

Things Like Pagani or Koenigsegg would be the victims of some serious luxury car tax frown

There have been some very recent revisions that would likely make this easier. I don’t know much so here’s a lead for your research:

Check RAWS register to see if it's been approved for personal import. If it's not on the register and it's never been imported by a manufacturer then you can apply to have it added to the regiater then import it. I've never done it but have briefly looked at it in the past.
