Narva 71840 (Fog Lamps)
Discussion
Hi all,
Looking to replace (again) a broken fog lamp on my Monaro VXR 500 - I believe the part number is 71840. The price in the UK is extortionate when compared to cost in Australia (even with a £ that's gone down the pan).
I've had a look on Ebay and no one seems to ship to the UK. Anyone know of a dealer in Australia that might consider shipping please,
Kind regards and thank you
Ian

Have you tried:

Narva is a fairly generic brand here and can be bought in the equivalent Halfords etc...
As for Holden dealers, not too sure as to who would send a bulb overseas. Some may be reluctant due to them being a tad on the fragile side of things.

Guessing you just need the light not the mounting bracket? If so, is there not a generic one available in the UK?
How much are they charging for the HSV ones in the UK?
I can find the HSV ones online for $220 not at a store, and the Narva ones are about $90 a pair.
The Narva ones do look like the right ones when you look at the pictures of genuine ones and the Narva ones.

That's right - lamp just has a hole in it from a road stone. How much are they charging for the HSV ones in the UK?

I don't think there is anything cheaper in the UK - it's a commmon gripe for the HSV owners over here and I beleive there was a group buy (from Australia) some years ago for that reason. For a single replacement fog in the UK it's £90 - that's 154 Australian Dollars at todays exchange rate ... yes .... for one. If you look at the picture and comment, that's for a Narva lamp - the same one I suspect. Granted, they'd have to add import duty etc. I've had to replace 3 in the past 5 years of Monaro ownership (last year I even had them coated to protect them with rally grade wrap - still didn't work though). Most I've paid is £120 (for one) ... and you'll note that this one is discounted by £24.

Looking at the UK HSV thread, some have tried an 80mm replacement - but it's a bit of a 'faff' I gather so I'm hoping to reduce the cost by importing - and I'll naturally be importing at least 4 for future proofing. My Monaro's a keeper (genuine VXR500 (only 15 built)).

Thank you for the replies guys - I'll keep looking.
Kind regards
