Best Radar Detector?
Discussion

It's a choice between the Bell or the Valentine.
There is a shop in Ozzy Park that sells them. But because the AUD is weak against the USD, they are pricey.
I did a bit of research, and got a Valentine One off Gumtree for quite a bit less than the shops.
If you want to borrow it, let me know. It picks up both cameras on the Freeway. Not actually seen another camera yet.

Forgive my ignorance, but in WA at least, why are people just not opting for laser jammers?
I bought a 205 gti here 2 years ago with one installed, hidden in the front bumper, activated by the rear window demister.
It picked up all the cameras just fine. (And blocking them, obviously.)
Not sure on the legality of it, but I went past an office with a hand held gun whilst I had it on, he just lowered it and stared at me as I drove past.

What jammer have you got? Does your jammer switch off after X seconds to allow a reading? I bought a 205 gti here 2 years ago with one installed, hidden in the front bumper, activated by the rear window demister.

An older version of this http://blinderxtreme.com/No, mine did not, had to switch off manually.
I have looked at jammers previously but cant help wonder if they take photos of cars that produce faults and send someone to take a look if they see you as a recurring problem!
There are some videos online showing that it doesnt actually make you invisible, it just flags a fault of the camera/handheld which prevents it from knowing how fast you're going.

This shows you. With the ALP brand you can set it so after X seconds it turns off allowing for a reading. This takes the suspicion away as just beaing a slow read:There are some videos online showing that it doesnt actually make you invisible, it just flags a fault of the camera/handheld which prevents it from knowing how fast you're going.

Well just to add to this, I got 3 warnings this weekend from the Valentine One.
Picked up a guy in the bushes southbound on the Farmer, just before the bridge. Also got two different setups on the little road from the freeway to Ikea (where I was done before).
Each time, gave me 1/200m warning. Enough time to get off the gas and onto the brakes.

With regards to the bushes that's great to hear - were they front or rear facing?

Beers soon is a defo. It's been too long. With regards to the bushes that's great to hear - were they front or rear facing?
All have been front facing, left hand side of the road (tripods and X-trails).
I also get a blip heading south towards Karrinyup Road on the freeway. I think there is a fixed one there somewhere.
The only issue I've had with them is my HID lights sometimes set them off. So high beam bouncing of the back of parked cars, I get a half second warning. I've read similar about the side blind-spot warning systems.

Radar.
Laser is difficult to beat as it's instant.
I've picked up a few lasers early, but that was from scatter from a car in front.
Luckily it's pretty rare here.
The warning you got is pretty standard for a radar detector, hence why I asked. You need to buy a ALPriority if you want to beat laser.Laser is difficult to beat as it's instant.

Yup, after running a Snooper in the UK for 15 years and having similar results I'm happy.I'm not after laser defeat .. it's over $1000 and just not worth it. I'm just trying to save myself the $100 fines for being 5kmph over the limit.
