Good driving roads near Brisbane
Discussion
I'd suggest heading into the hinterland, either GC or Sunshine Coast. Shouldn't be hard to find some nice roads in those areas.
Can't help other than that as my Qld trips are limited to Airport to GC and then GC to Sunshine Coast - which is a soul destroying journey thanks to the inability of Queenslanders to drive.

Friends tell me there are great driving roads in the sunshine coast hinterland. I don't know, as I live south of Brisbane, & crossing Brisbane such a pain, I don't do it.
Just kidding, the fact is there are so much great driving south & into the northern areas of NSW, that it's not worth the effort of crossing the city.
The border ranges between Qld & NSW have a lot of minor roads which offer really great driving, provided you can do it any time other than Sunday. That is tourist day, & the day dads let the learners loose.
Lions road, a road built as a Lions club project is deservedly famous as an interesting drive. Very twisty, with many narrow short bridges, it has a prehistoric feel. You almost expect to find a dynasore around the next bend.
There are many little known lightly trafficked roads from the Gold Coast hinterland up to the Darling downs, some very good & some a bit bumpy.
Just over the border there are a few rally type roads, if you like it bumpy & dusty.
I think it is fair to say there are many places to enjoy a car, provided you keep off the main roads, or the Sunday drive routes on Sundays.
Brisbane is now a physically large city. Live near the centre of it, & you will spend a fair while on main roads, or expressways, [what a misnomer that is] to get to anywhere you might find driving fun.

On the southside, best is just in from Nerang (head for natural arch and you wont go wrong) and into the hinterland into NSW, lovely drives around the hillsides and lots of great places to stop off at. well worth the painfull pacific highways drive to get to them (about 30-50 mins) very much the same on the northside but the traffic on the freeway can get heavier on a sunday afternoon making it painful.
Have fun, but take care there have been a few fatalities lately especially motorcyclists.

Mt Nebo gets good comments.
And why the hell are you moving backwards in times to the mid 70s?
We'll do a weekend run before November I reckon. Maybe Oberon then down to Goulburn.
Have you tried buying a house in Sydney recently! 😜And why the hell are you moving backwards in times to the mid 70s?

It's actually a nice city. Great lifestyle. I'm sure you'll love it.
I'll get something worked out for mid October I reckon.
Had lunch in Kyogle today, with a bunch from the Triumph club.
Great driving from Beaudesert through the Christmas creek area on nice farming area narrow but good back roads, led by a local. Then Lyons road & the Summerland Way.
Back up Mount Lindsay Highway in a thunderstorm downpour. Beaut time slipping around on narrow 13" wheels & tyres. No real ass puckering stuff, but the new stone mastic surface on a fair bit of it can do with some weathering.
Love the area, & wouldn't be dead for quids.
