So, I was running this SS wagon:

However I had to order a new car and because of stock availability I ended up with this Calais V6 wagon, with a discount rate which saved a few $ compared to the SS, and it uses less fuel too. The downside is it isn't a V8:

Then I had to order a replacement for this (the car SWMBO uses):

There were no Cruze available so I decided that if I ordered an SS Sedan I'd still be better off overall, and it would take a while to come and by then I'd be due to replace the Calais wagon and Cruze should be available again, so we could swap cars. Simple.

Except, I get a phone call to say no SSs available but would I like a Calais V V8....at a discounted rate. It was in stock, so today I picked this up:

The saving on this, plus the saving on the Calais wagon means I'm $22 a fortnight better off*

However it looks like we'll have 2 Commodores for a couple of months instead of a couple of weeks.

  • Man maths requires me to ignore the likely horrific fuel consumption the V8 will return on my wife's 6km run to work each day, and simply enjoy the fact that according to my payslip I am better off.

The only thing that really matters, is your smile bigger? After all, you can't take it with you.
