Upper child restraint anchor still needed?
Discussion
I have a Mazda RX8 arriving in Oz as a personal import in the next few weeks. As with all UK cars, it has the ISOFIX child restraint points as standard.
Is the Upper child restraint anchor still required for the car to pass compliance? or has this changed in the last couple of years to allow ISOFIX and the upper restraint anchor is not longer needed?

I'm not sure if it has the pre-drilled holes or not. I only remembered that I will need to the upper anchor point after I shipped the car. I might ask the UK RX8 forum about this.
I had a quick look and found Supercheapauto sells the anchor kit for $15 so if I'm lucky with the pre-installed holes then this will be a cheap fix.

Unless the child seat you're bringing over has a top tether, you're going to have to buy an Aussie-spec one (that's the usual 'Welcome to Straya' way of things...) In which case, if you buy new, you'll get a bracket with the seat. I've got about 8 of the things somewhere.
All cars sold over here after whatever date (probably earlier than when the RX8 was being made) will need to have the hole/thread/bracket installed and I'm guessing that Mazda probably had this in mind for Australia and elsewhere during production - I'd be surprised if yours didn't have the bracket, or at least the hole already. Even if it hasn't, I think you'll have to get one sorted before its allowed in the country - part of the rules, see - more 'Welcome to Straya'
