grrrrrr.....Becoming the end of free to air tv.... How do people keep watching HouseBrother's MasterVoice Dancing cooking show?
A fellow I work with has said the UK Sky coverage which it looks like the Fox stuff will be is very good. Just not sure I can justify it to my health!
...I will be stuck in front of the TV....EPL, NFL and V8 supercars and now F1.
I survived without WSBK when that was removed from free to air a long time ago...no NFL for about 10 to 15 years was hard too.
The deal looks similar to the UK BBC coverage.

Fox and Ten have the coverage this season. Ten have 10 races live and the others on delay so its not that bad.

However, this was reported in the press as a great thing - how is shifting coverage to a pay tv channel great?

At lest the fox coverage will be in proper HD apparently, not the crappy 720p they pass off as HD here.

the 10 races that channel 10 are showing are the ones at 3am in the morning which i would tape anyway (not including the Australian GP)

all the good races with the exception of Spa and Monaco are on fox only.

F1 is the only thing i make an effort to watch. i wont be paying $75 per race to have pay tv installed.

So the same model as V8 Supercars by the look of it.

I hope the V8 Supercars deal flops and the viewing figures drop.

Disappointing the Aus GP won't be on free to air.

Can't you find a live stream off the Internet?

This. There are many 'alternative' ways to view F1 live online for free. You won't get HD and you will need to have a few lined up as they drop in and out but it is possible.

Foxtel make a tempting case, you get it in HD and you get all of the practice and qualifying but considering that we won't watch any of the other content it is a waste of money.

1. March 13-15: Melbourne, Australia (FOX & TEN)
2. March 27-29: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (FOX)
3. April 10-12: Shanghai, China (FOX)
4. April 17-19: Sakhir, Bahrain (FOX & TEN)
5. May 8-10: Catalunya, Spain (FOX)
6. May 22-24: Monte Carlo, Monaco (FOX & TEN)
7. June 5-7: Montreal, Canada (FOX)
8. June 19-21: Spielberg, Austria (FOX & TEN)
9. July 3-5: Silverstone, Great Britain (FOX)
10. July 17-19: TBA, Germany (FOX & TEN)
11. July 24-26: Budapest, Hungary (FOX)
12. August 21-23: Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium (FOX & TEN)
13. September 4-6: Monza, Italy (FOX)
14. September 18-20: Singapore (FOX & TEN)
15. September 25-27: Suzuka, Japan (FOX)
16. October 9-11: Sochi, Russia (FOX & TEN)
17. October 23-25: Austin, United States (FOX)
18. October 30-November 1: Mexico City, Mexico (FOX & TEN)

Cause then I can just series link it and not have to use the terrestrial TV at all.

That's if I bothered to watch it anyhow.

Over $100 a month and I hardly watch it.

Will Fox be running the BBC Broadcasting Team of Brundle, Jordan, Coulthard and Co?

One of the most interesting parts used to be Brundle's pre race pitwalk, that was great unscripted TV.

Sadly Channel 10 used to have Daryl Eastlakes prattling on about rubbish while Alan Jones gently corrected him.

They did switch over to BBC for the race though so hopefully this still occurs.

looked into our current internet deal and have worked out that with a bit of juggling and repackaging we can transfer across to foxtell with only minimal cost difference. only need to pay for the sport channels for the periods in which F1 is on but will likely leave it on as it has the WEC as well a cycling. Pari Robax this weekend.

install happens tomorrow hopefully.

Well have to say I've really enjoyed e fox coverage. Brundle's pit walk, Hill, Herbert and co commentating. Plus not on at 11pm.

All in HD, just fantastic...

No complaints here either, happy with my extra $25 a month to FOXTEL so far, getting both V8SC and F1.

The F1 coverage is just Sky re-badged though? I never watched it on Sky in the UK so I have no idea who presented it there.

I guess your local press would be one of Murdoch's chip wrappers

I certainly don't watch, or want to watch enough TV to be prepared to pay for it.

In fact I find they have already started to wean me off the V8s, [I was loosing interest anyway], & the F1. I have not bothered to watch the highlights package for either of them. I saw a few minutes, said "ho hum", & wandered off to do something more interesting.

I found super league drove me away from rugby league, I never watch any of it these days, nor cricket since world series stuffed it locally.

Like so many others, I will not pay for TV, & the repeats of cooking shows, & soapies, filling the now multiple channels, are highly unlikely to attract me. The whole television industry has lost the plot, & is slowly shooting itself in the foot.

We're so different, I love my Foxtel. Wicked Tuna, Game of Thrones, F1, 1,000's of movies via Catchup and all recordable.
