Who lives in Sydney?
Discussion
Bit quite on here at the moment so I was keen to see who lives in Sydney and where?
Ill start, I work in the CBD, live on the lower north shore, used to have serveral VW's but now have a Saab 9-3 Turbo due to the kid!
Im originally from England and have been here for 6 years, available for midweek drinks if enough are interested.
Your turn!

Not that many of us these days.
I work city-ish and live in the magnificent Inner West. VW history is strong also.
Currently driving my daily Vienta, which is great. Thursday I collect my 928 from it's repair/refresh which is greater.
Been here 12 years next month. Feels like 5 minutes, feels like a lifetime.

Also in Sydney - Near Northern Beaches (Manly end). Been here 12 years in March, and can't see anything changing for the next 15 or so years. Also now work from home, having recently left a city-based job, and can wholeheartedly recommend it. I know I'll probably get bored of it, but right now, its just the ticket.
Would love to meet up, but need notice - young family and busy work stuff can make things tricky. But The Oaks would be good, if that works for others - my local's the 4 Pines.
Often see relatively rare cars around - it seems they don't dissolve at the same rate over here. There's a Renault Fuego parked not far from my house, and a Morris Minor just up the road, and a guy a couple of streets over has an original Lotus Elan. V noice! Not many 928s at all though...

Mindful of this comment...
As the proprietor was out the front, I simply said hello and that it was nice to see a few such Porsches all together. I left 30 minutes later, having said not many more words...
And here's a pic of the engine bay of the 944T at the front cos I thought it looked quite good...

I thought I'd have a nose at a few front engined Porsches on the way back from a bike ride this arvo, so cruised passed a well-known local 928 dogging spot. Whence my eyes availed a brace of heavily-modified 944 Turbos, a pair of 968s and no fewer than five 928s, including the dodgy white one at the back...As the proprietor was out the front, I simply said hello and that it was nice to see a few such Porsches all together. Oooh thanks Lee
Nice to see the doors are open - that's thanks to my new door strap things.
Doesn't mind a chat does Bruce.
One of those 944Ts is his son Sean's daily driving, track GT2 & 3 whooping, 500-ish bhp beauty.
Door straps rock! And the engine was running, so double bonus Nice to see the doors are open - that's thanks to my new door strap things.

Yes, Bruce can talk. Got the low-down on Sean's car (3.0-litre S2 engine with turbo), the history of the 944T I photo'd (1988 Aus-delivered, not UK or HK export, with custom engine bay rebuild to c335 bhp), his own 968 (just can't part with it - in the middle of my first photo) and some other random info on 944S2s, 968s and 964s. Anyway, I did say that I thought it was your car, the PH sticker gave it away - drop me a line of you're collecting it Mon-Fri and might have 5 mins for a natter - working from home, innit!
I am in Sydney, live in Greenwich (for now) and work in North Sydney so the Oaks is a fair shout for me also. I've been here nearly two years and have occasional access to a CRV dishwasher on wheels.... I'm currently searching so if anyone knows of anything interesing for about $20k give me a shout!

Didn't OZ getting something like a CTI as well as a GTI?
Europe got a CTI which was a GTI convertible, don't know if Aus did. This was nothing.
When they stopped importing the GTI, they bought in the Si, which had a 1.6l 4cyl SOHC 8V engine. A friend had one of these, junk engine...
If anyone fancies a drive one weekday evening, let me know. Often head up to Ku-ring-gai and/or Berowra for a late evening jaunt, when people are at home watching Dancing with the X Factor Survivors or whatever its called, and before the early morning cyclists have even set their alarms. Home and work conspire to make weekends too complicated to even considering going for a drive!

Yes I'll probably take you up on that. I won't bother to bring the Defender though...Gassing Station | Australia | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
