Cheap cars in Melbourne, where to buy?

Hi!

I'm new to this section of the forum, having moved to Melbourne about 8 months ago.

I've decided I can't do without a car anymore, but due to being on a short Visa (going to apply for PR soon) I cant get finance over anything longer than 6 months at the min, so I'm going to buy a cheap car.

I'm looking at 2-3k, maybe 4 if its worth it. A mate has offered a Pug 306 GTI-6 for circa $2k. Its ratty, paintwork is a mess, currently on steelies but with the original (kerbed) alloys, suspension feels tired as it has done 228k, but its cheap and fun.

Is there anywhere in melbourne that has a few of the lower end stuff in stock, somewhere like a car supermarket? I've been looking at Car sales.com but it would be nice to have a look at a few options...

Have a look on Gumtree. A lot of the cheaper dealers use it.

Kelly Motors advertise on there for example - never used them, but they have a lot of cheap stuff, apparently with RWC too.

Never used these people either. I am guessing the cheaper cars might be trade-ins. They normally have a lot of fleet cars.
