There was a news story in the Sydney Morning Herald a week or so ago about a bloke who'd managed to pick up two speeding fines a minute apart from the camaras in the Harbour Tunnel. Now, apart from this being blatant moneygrabbing (each offence was less than 10kmh over the 80) there are no signs of where the camaras are in the Tunnel.

Does anyone know if there are any 'rules' for where camaras should be? I know the UK has a set of exceptionally flexible 'rules' regarding accident rates and so on, but at least you can spot the buggers - these are hidden.

there are signs entering the tunnel that there are cameras in the tunnel so if you speed in there you have been warned.

there are also cameras in the tunnels leaving the airport

there was a story a few months back where a motorcyclist took his plates off and screamed thru the tunnel everyday at the same time giving the one finger salute, thru some smart detective work the cops worked out who it was and nailed him thru his own stupidity basically.

Use a Road Angel and you KNOW where the fixed cameras then and remember that NSW/VIC are the police states and you are just below paedophiles in the criminal pecking order if you drive a car

I know heaps of people who have been booked speeding in the tunnel AND they KNOW there are cameras there but suffered brain fade

Bloody Poms whinge about their scameras, they ought to see how we are treated!!

I hate to admit it but thanks to being an habitual speeder I have lost my license 14 times in 33 years of driving due to points accumulation (not proud of it by any means) so I have more reason than most for running an ECM war with the HWP but a Ferrari does stick out like the proverbial ....

Road Angels - no problems with using them in Australia? If not, I'm off to get one - I've just upgraded my licence to HR for work, can't afford to lose it now.

I suppose there's a modicum of honesty here - at least no-one pretends cameras are there for improving safety - no-one seems to shy away from the money they bring in. Esp in Vic.

Seems a shame though, as there are so many easy fixes to some of the risks of driving here, that they've opted to rake in the revenue and do chuff all else. 'Tis life, I'm sure.

Road Angels are legal here and several friends of mine have them (a few even have "other" electronic aids) and it's a bit like turning on all the ECM equipment in a combat aircraft before departing sometimes.

I actually got caught on the SA/VIC border many years ago while running 2 radar detectors by a neat little scam they were running, they had already got soemone for 130 in a 110 zone and kept the reading so they could pull all the interstaters over (I was one of 4 other cars pulled over and shown the "speed" I was "doing) and neither of my detectors went off (they had just been made illegal so there was no way of saying they were lying )
