Long story. Moved to Oz (Brisbane) for work end August and hopefully long term. Wife is Aussie and we planned to take both cars with us. Problem was we spent last 9 months in Manila and can no longer get cars in under Personal Import Scheme. So sold the 599 and still got a Maserati Granturismo in storage in hope that over next few years it will be dded to scheme of car allowed fo import.

Really want to take something spcial over. Looking at allowable cars no 911s are on list! Nor is F430, but 360 is. Has anybody taken a F360 in and had experience of the import under RAWS an the conversion costs. Any recommendations both good and bad welcome. Send PM if dont want to post

Also any suggestions on cars to take welcome budget anywhere from £20K to £70K considered just cant afford to take hit on deprecition so looking to resale in Oz year or 3 down track. Looking af Ferrar 2 and 4 seats, had 599 so dont want backwards step to 612, owned 997.2 GT3 so thats out. Thought about M5 M3 M6, (had e39 m5 10 years ago) never owned hot Merc?

I cannot help with the RAW side of things, but I would suggest the 360 would feel a little underwhelming with the vehicles you already own? I find it odd that even though a car is on the Special Vehicle Register is doesn't mean it can be road registered. While this probably wouldn't apply to a Fezza it may apply to some other cars on the list? I see the Ariel Atom is on the list, but I was sure they would not allow those to be road registered still in Oz (a car I aspire to owning smile ).

While I don't think you would lose much money on reselling, I don;t think you would make anything either. Australia seems very wary of imports, in the same way the UK used to be back in the day, and prices reflect this. Not sure if the market is that big for an imported Ferrari, certainly not for a Noble wink

Still an enviable (spelling) position to be faced with!

A word of warning, just because a car is on the registar doesnt mean its a straight forward process. First thing is to contact customs and find out if anyone has imported that vehicle on the RAWS scheme previously. If not you are laible for all compliance testing for the model - thats circa 100k before you do anything else.

There are several on the list I looked at which would have incurred this cost. People apply to the list, they get granted and then find out how much it will really cost so they dont bother. They stay on the list.

Its only applicable for the first one imported, after that its easy enough.

Agree with James, I've been looking at a 360 but landed and complied its almost not worth it. The nearest company registered to do the compliance wanted $20k. I can buy one here for less than AUS$90k these days.
