Track days or sprint events in Adelaide
Discussion
Autokhana are your handbrake around the cone, reverse in to the garage type events.
Motorkhana are still generally run around the cones on a open bit of tarmac or concrete but are more like a sprint so you drive it like it is a tiny circuit. The course is generally more flowing.
Track days are often called tuning days.
Sprints are run on a full circuit, normally as an out lap, fast lap and in lap format. Super sprints have more cars on track and are run over a greater number of laps.
Regularity is a bit like a sprint but you pre-nominate your time and run over 8+ laps. You start with a given amount of points and lose points for being over / under your nominated times.
Your local facilities: http://www.mallala.com/http://www.adelaideraceway.com.au/
Check out local car clubs to, they likely organise days out.

I do sprints, tuning days and rallysprints.
Rallysprints are basically a single venue tarmac rally:

Ninja edit:
It is worth noting that there are some tuning days that are more aimed at road cars but tuning days are not really like they are in the UK. You will often be on track with proper race cars and people that are out to actually test their car. Overtaking rules are generally not as strict as in the UK. Tuning days are all the more better for this to, much more relaxed.

Great video's mate. The Rallysprint stuff looks pretty savage if you get it wrong, a lot of kerbs and concrete to come into contact with!
I wanted something pretty basic to start with to match my driving skill. I would be a hazard on a track with other people who knew what they were doing. Only done a few advanced driving days so I do know my limitations and they are pretty low

I would suggest the first thing to do is see what car clubs you have locally and see what they do. The MX5 club here do a ton of motorsport events that are perfect for people in road cars and novices.
See what tuning days Mallalllallaa do and what instructors they have available. Just get yourself out there and do it, your car is not just going to wildly spin or fly off the track unless you are silly...smooth with the brakes, don't stomp on the throttle and check your mirrors on the straights. Hold your lines and be consistent, any half experienced driver will find a way around you.

The Porsche Club of SA runs regular track days at Mallala (around 4 or 5 per year). You can participate if you don't have a Porsche but need to join the club (I think). You need a CAMS license, helmet, fire extinguisher, bonnet restraint and blue battery location marker and can lease a timing transponder (don't need this if you don't want to compete and just burn around the track ;-)). Cost is around $200 per day IIRC.
