I've just come to renew my insurance on the Pajero.

It's a 2003 mid level model, valued at $15k and kept in a lock up garage in central Sydney.

Only used for private use and commuting.

Have a guess how much the cheapest comprehensive quote is?

I can't make much sense out of insurance charges.

I pay only $120 more to insure the S2000 for $26,000 agreed value than I do for my Oz Ford Capri, value $4600.

Then I pay I pay $130 less than that to insure my TR7 for $8000, all with the same company.

Big spread of guesses, 1st prize to PommeyG for being closest. The thieving barstewards want $2993!

Not really insurance is it, more like I give them the entire value of the car over the 5 years I'm likely to own it - where's the risk in that?

Wow, you must be a naughty boy.

My son has the TR8 insured for $22000, for $880.00, in his name, in Wollongong area, & he has a record any hoon would be proud to hang on the wall.

How many times have you been disqualified, & how many cars do you write off a year?

Who is ripping you off like that?

My daughter had some crazy quotes when she was under 20. A couple of them wanted $2500 to insure a $1900 car, but gave her a third party property damage policy for $190. It made no sense at all.

That doesn't seem right. We pay 800 for a 22k valued CRV in central Syd. Time to shop around.

Doesn't sound right at all. I had my broker friend run your approximate details Matt and with every option ticked he got about $1400 from Allianz.

Yay! what do I win?

On a serious note - what was your quote last year? Have you had any claims since? Any driving convictions?

It doesnt seem right on a normal basis.

Last year it was $2395. I've got 3 points, no accidents and a couple of years no claims. My car has moved from Darling Point to Balmain, still hardly the wild west.

I called AAMI, YOUI and Shannons.

How the heck is it so cheap in WA in comparison!

You're getting screwed there. I'm paying just on $900 on a 2012 Aston Vantage S, $295k drive away. Insured with AAMI. Can't figure out why it's so cheap but not complaIning/

Bizarre. I pay $1,300 on a 2011 Cayenne parked in Mosman. That's through "Just Car"
